Not sure what you mean by vss. Is that the speed sensor. If so yes there was. But i didnt do my install, i had best buy do mine. Thats were i got it. And the stock amp i had to bypass because i didnt use that special harness. So if you want to keep it then get that harness. I didnt want to spend 150 on it if i am doing custom audio work.

Ok I have a 07 LS with the base stereo, I have exactly 0 options. What harness do I need to get this headunit in my car, and have everything working with 0 problems? FYI my DIC is in the speedo.

one i can tell you is that no matter what you do you will not lose the door chime it is not part of the radio. But the xm i'm not sure about cause i got rid of xm and went to sirus. But i can guess is you might need that special harnes. You can find it on crutchfield.

Do you really need that to make the steering wheel controls work or is a new harness good enough?

I saw a lot of them for less then ten dollars plus shipping on audiooutfitters.com. There are a couple different models that look the same but there all made by metra. One says cobalt turbo so im guessin they meant supercharged. Il try to give em a call once i get home from work. I wanna order the harness from them too but its outta stock

I got my Avic D3 installed about a month ago. I have the metra harness and used the GMOS LAN so I could keep my retained power. I also got the pac steering wheel adapter installed so that I could use my steering wheel controls. Basically the HU is connected to the factory Pioneer AMP and Speakers. My Sub and tweeters all work fine.

I got mine done in Circuit City and they were great. Same day installation they had all the harness xcept the one for the steering wheel but other than that everything works fine and looks slick like it came with the car.

Well I got mine done at a car stereo installation store where I live in Toronto Canada. I would suggest that you look around at different installation places including circuit city and tell them exactly what you want. If they say they can do all of that ask them for the name of the modules and adapters that they will use. Then you will know for sure if they can do it.
