Pioneer deh-p8mp in ss/sc

ok I was wondering what all is intailed to installing this headunit in a ss/sc. I'm looking to do this in the fall when I get my new car. is it the same as putting it in my cavalier? as of right now I'm running the pioneer premier headunit and a viper d1200.1 and 2 12" alpine type r's @ 1ohm. Am I looking at a hard install or should it be simple? Thanks.

It's pretty straightforward. If you have onstar or the Pioneer setup in there it is a little harder. I installed the AVIC-N2 in mine and that was a bitch, but your unit will be fine. Metra makes a kit for the dash as well as a harness. I hardwired mine in and people say it voids the warranty but who will ever know? Wire codes can be found on here and thats about it. If you have any tech questions PM me - I have installed many Pioneer HUs in many different vehicles. (Cobalt SS, Grand Prix, Taurus, Caprice, WRX).

I didnt know if my harness out of my cavalier would work for the cobalt. Since my cavalier has the chime deal setup in it. I have the harness with the chime box that sets in my dash and wasnt sure it if was the same plug. I was hoping for that but doubt it more than likely.

That chime harness is not needed with our cars. The chime does not go through our factory speakers. Also, the malibooty kit is useless for a Cobalt since the Driver Information Center (DIC) is located in the dash not through the radio. If you want to use that kit from the Cavi you might have to double check if it will work otherwise I'd spend the $10 to get a regular harness for the Cobalt.

I'm not trying to be ignorant but can anyone else confirm this? I wanna make sure. It would be so nice to be able to save a little bit of money. What are the 2 blue?? wires for the amplifier that has to be hooked up on the pioneer harness. Is it just you hook up your amplifier remote power lead off the headunit?
