Problems with Navigation install

Well i have a KVT 819-DVD Kenwood Head Unit installed in my car. And i just purchased the last accessory for the head unit, a KNA-G510 Kenwoord Add-on Navigation Unit. The wiring is as the following:

1 Power Line
1 Ignition Power Line
1 Ground Line
1 Parking Brake Switch Line

Then of course the special serial cable that connects the nav unit to the head unit.

On my particular Head Unit, when an accessory is enabled (cd changer, tv tuner, etc.), the icon on the head unit menu is enabled. However, after the nav. unit install, the navigation icon is grayed out, and not enabled. I have measured all lines to ensure i have good power lines, and a good ground, and it all checks out fine. None of the fuses are blown.

Has anyone used these two particular items together, or have any ideas if there is anything else simple i missed? I went ahead and contacted the manufacture to have a new unit shipped out to me anyways, but would just like everyones input.

do you have the same headunit and nav system? There wasn't any special setting within the headunit that you had to enable, was there?

Cause i know for a fact my wiring is right, so i guess it's just a bad unit

I have the DDX7019 and the G510. Pretty much the same thing only mine is a double din. Did you disconnect the neg terminal while installing? Could have fried the NAV.

Well i usually ALWAYS buy from crutchfield just because their customer support is amazing (prices are higher though), but this time i purchased it through 6ave.com through amazon since it was only like 300-350.

Well i wired everything up with the battery disconnected at the time, so i'm pretty confident they just sent me a doa unit. They are supposedly mailing me a return shipping label to have a free exchange, so we'll see...
