Quesiton about wiring aftermarket HU

I was just checking out the wiring instructions for a HU and I have some questions. I've tried searching, but I just can't find the answers I'm looking for. Or at least I can't understand them.

The harness wires on this HU are NOT pre-amp and are powered by the HU. So, I obviously can not connect those to the Metra 70-2103 adapter harness. Right? Because the adapter goes into the factory Pioneer amp. So, I would need to connect the pre-amp RCA connections on the HU to the Metra Harness.

Right?

What about my sub? Does that need to be wired, or is there a crossover somewhere in the factory Pioneer setup?

I know this is a re-post from another section, but I didn't get any responses there.

on what hu?

the 2103 is just speaker wires so you would be effectively overdriving the stock amp if u hook up an aftermarket HU speaker outputs to the 2103. Which isnt "good" but works ok if your smart. as long as u keep the volume down your ok. think of it this way. speaker outputs are like what 11v when rca outputs are normally 5v or lower (2v and 4v are most common) So think of it as each volume knob like +3 or +5 and you can only go up to 10 instead of 35

If your retarded and cant tell distortion and crank it all the way on speaker outputs you will fry the amp eventually (probably pretty quick if you go all the way up)
