Question about the $185 stereo upgrade...?
Does that bump the number of speakers from the standard 4, up to the 6?
This is what the chevy site says about it that package:
"Sound system, ETR AM/FM stereo with CD player, includes Radio Data System, seek-and-scan, digital clock, auto-tone control, automatic volume and TheftLock"

I also had the six speakers on my 01 Sunfire and they did sound nice. Sounded better with 2 12" Audiobahn subs in the trunk too :P The 4 speakers arent that bad to be honest. The bass is crisp and clear and so are the vocals. The only problem I am having is with the XM Radio. It seems like it changes my audio settings everytime I change the station, so Ill change stations to a rap station or whatever with a lot of bass, and the bass setting goes higher than my prefrence then it sounds like poo.

Bass sounds almost exactly the same. To be honest the vocals sound about the same as in the sunfire. The only speakers that the cobalt doesnt have that my sunfire did are the two tweeters that were by the mirrors. Also I listen to all types of music country to rock and all of them sounded about the same in the cobalt with 4 speakers. Sorry I cant be of more help and describe it better, but I cant really tell a difference.

So I ended up getting a Cobalt with this package. The radio stuff that shows what station you're on and what artist and title is playing is very cool. Unfortunately I can't say the same about the sound quality. It's not up to the quality of my 6 speaker stock system in my 01 Cavailer. No highs, probabaly because no tweeters, duh, and the bass sounds distorted a moderatly loud volumes. I also wish it would read CD text from CDs, since it has the readout to do so with the radio. *shrugs*

So that was just the upgraded CD player or upgraded speakers also.
That radio readout thing sounds nice but I remember hearing that very few stations actualy broadcast an RDS(I think that is what it is called) signal.
