question about 500/1 and w1's

i have 2 10" w1's in the prefab vented box from JL. i have them matched with the 500/1. ive had them for about a year so im looking to keep the amp and box and just put new subs in the box. ive been looking at the kicker comps and cvrs and also so alpine type r's. the w3's and w6's are sick but theyre pricey so im trying to not go that route. what subs would be best to pair with the amp i have? thanks everyone for your input.

that's the answer i was expecting. problem is swapping the only subs isnt going to do much if anything probably worse. With the 500/1 ur power is gonna stay the same so unless you find something more efficient you wont notice any gain.

any local shops do custom boxes?

You could always keep your 500/1 and just get 1 sub/box.....

Maybe a 13W3V3 in a ported box??
12" Type R in a ported box?

It might not be much louder but it will sound better

ya unless you do something radical a custom box is gonna be the winner there, i mean like quick shift said you can do a single sub, but prefab box it wont get louder. something like an RE SE in a custom box would. but so would 2 w1s in a custom box.

spend the cash on a badass box now, maybe wire upgrade too have it tuned to something like 38hz and if you want louder then that down the road then bigger amp/subs

alright thanks guys im gonna run down there today and see what that can do for a box.
one more question. anyone know of any other solid amps that would put out more power besides the 500/1? everyone says that is the best amp around, but if i wanted more power what should i be looking at?
thanks
