question about my car and 6x9 speakers
Okay, so I joined this community because I have a 2006 chevy cobalt LT without the pioneer bling and it is a four door.
I purchased from a friend these speakers(only 20 bucks):
Pioneer 6x9 TS-A6963R:Pioneer TS-A6963R 6"x9" 3-way car speakers at Crutchfield.com
Crutchfield says that it will not fit into my car. A different website says they will. What confuses me, is when I look on crutchfield website for 6x9's that will fit my car, i found another pair of speakers, pretty much same dimensions and it says it will fit.
So I am a tad confused. I did notice one guy put same type of speakers into his two door cobalt, I just was wondering if I will have a hard time putting the cover back on, i have them sitting next to me, will be attempting the project tomorrow....
thanks in advance to any replies :-)
Oh, and I should mention the 6x9's are going on the rear deck of the car

you wont have a problem with the cover going back on at all. as far as fitment goes it probably wont be "perfect" but you should be able to get them to fit. for crutchfield a speaker fits only if the basket is the right size and the screw holes line up perfectly. for them they have to cover their butts really so the only options that "fit" are what a monkey can accomplish. anything less then 1 star easy wont fit so when someone chooses something that requires some thought they cant return it because they couldnt figure it out

Well thanks EmperorJJ1 for replying. The speakers have successfully installed, did not have any issues with the screws at all.
My only concern now is that when I throw the audio to the back left, it is quieter than the right, I am wondering if this is normal or if I did something wrong?

Okay, so I am an idiot lol!
Didn't know that when you replace rear speakers, the wiring is different, I thought dark colors were always negative, but thats the exact opposite in rear, so Yeah, I switched those, and now it sounds like I am in a theater with my music such as tears for fears! I love these speakers now, definitly worth the 20 bucks, but then again, i had stock speakers, and I have always been told those are crap unless you buy a luxury car, or the high class sedan cars.

I used this site for the wiring reference, pretty handy to have, they were the exact colors that they described, i had light blue, dark blue, and then yellow and brown (although this looked black to me.

The truth is that 6x9s were popular in the late 70s, 80s, and 90s(prior to subwoofers), but now companies are getting 6.5s for there clarity and there balance of sound.

exactly. but there are alot of good sounding 6X9s out there... speaker size is alot like motor size, it does make a difference but saying all 6X9s sound bad is as ignorant as saying all 4 cly are slow
6.5 has an advantage but doesn't mean its the "best" option for everybody all the time
