Questions before I install my Modulator...

This is what I'm working with: Audiovox FM Stereo Modulator.

My questions are as follows:

NOTE: Red Wire: 12V Wire---BlackWire: Ground

1. How do I hook up the 12V wire to the power outlet below the climate control?
2. How do I wire the "ground" wire?

With the two RCA hookups here, and I'm hooking this up to it.

The RCA wires with the black boxes between them, will be wired to the longer RCA cord above.

Now with the antenna questions.

NOTE: Left cord (40-GM10) Right cord (40-GM20)

1. When I remove the antenna cord to the radio HU, what wire (GM10 or GM20) do I hook up to that antenna wire.
2. What wire (GM10 or GM20) do I hook up to the radio?

My plan for this little project is to get a better quality sound for my iPod, since I do not want an aftermarket HU + iPod adapter. My goal for this is to hook up a headphone jack wire from my iPod to the RCA cords. Or is there another way? I know zinner did a "hack job" but I dont not have a souldering machine.

Thanks.

k ready. I had the exact smae modulator. ground the black wire to anything metal. there are 3 screws behind the stereo. Ground it to that. For the red wire. Splice into the red power wire that is going towards the factory radio. Just tie the red wire into to it. Dont completey cut it off because u need that wire. As far as the antenna Adapters tere really is only one they can go, so it shouldnt be to hard once u get the stereo out. I had this exact same setup and i liked it but i finaly broke down and bought a head unit to start my system. Good luck and let me know if u have any more questions

Ok I feel like an idiot asking this but here goes.

How EXACTLY do I splice the red radio wire with this 12V wire? Do I cut it and add a little cap on it?

Please help, I'm an rookie when it comes to stuff like this. Other than that, I just need to pull apart the pannels inside the car. Then hook up all my stuff, if I finish it tomorrow, I will post pics.

You can cut the end of that wire of, and get the actual metal wire. Strip a section out of the other power wire, and joint it to it like a "T." Just make sure you tape it off. But like kuhockey said, dont cut through the other wire, just remove the sleeve above it. Preferably only the width of the wire you are gonna splice into it. Any small pocketknife scissors should be sufficient to slice two little lines down to the wire, and then one between the lines to get the sleeves off. Thats wordy, but I hope it helps. Later man.

Ok thanks. So in reality its like cutting off a little of the wrapping of the wire (radio wire), and wraping the exposed wire (12V) around the radio wire right?

This setup sounds really really good! I highly reccommend it.

This practically ran me less than $100, which is a hell of alot cheaper than a new HU and iPod adapter.

The modulator is MUCH clearer than the transmitter. There is no static what so ever.

Hey, don't you have anything else better to do than bash me? God damn, you have a SS/SC, and I could care less how much you and other people hate my car. How about you leave me alone huh? I'm not taking the RS badges off so stop thinking I'm going to ok.

Do you guys think we could use this instead of the Audiovox box. This one already has a built in switch inside the box it goes on and off automatically. Only drawback is that it is designed for the Sirius. Do you guys think I could use it for the Zune??

It should work if the zune has the 2.5 mini plug output.
