Quick question about stock stereo....
As many of u may know, im trading in the cobalt for a new silverado...
Quick question, If i take out my sony hu, and plug back in my stock stereo, it should still work, right?
I just dont wana end up finding it wont work again...
also, just outta curiousity, if i plug in another stereo from a different cobalt (same year and trim), will it work? Like say if i take out the stereo from another 2007 cobalt LT and plug it into MY 2007 cobalt LT, will it work? just curious....
cuz i know an 07 stereo wont work in an 06...

Should still work, no reason for it not to.
However you can't take another chevy radio and put it in your car without taking it to the dealership and having them reprogram it. Chevy radios have what they call theftlock, the radio is programmed to the vin of your car. So if someone steals your radio its pretty much useless.
Also, you need to know someone at the dealership before they will even reprogram it, or at least be able to prove that it isn't stolen.

yup entirely right, youll need to take it to the dealership to have it unlocked. if it was the one from your car originally it will work just fine when you plug it back in

Ima buy a stock stereo from my neighbor though cuz he installed a dvd flip out.... that way when i trade it in, it has a stock stereo rather than my sony

if the dealership thinks you stole it go to another dealership. Just tell them you sold your original stock and you needed to buy another. they should not think its stolen. Also no one steals plain stock cobalt radios.
