Arrow Quik Aftermarket HU help...

ok, so its bout that time and I'm lookin at upgrading my radio.. I've read a couple different threads about aftermarket radios and the adaptors I'd need, and i've been checkin out different radios, and as of now, I'm looking at grabbin this one..
http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-AVH-P4...9427259&sr=1-8
unless I can find a better value.. price/quality wise..

On all the different reviews, some people are saying they had to buy all these different adaptors, and all this different stuff and I'm tryin to figure out exactly what I'd need to pretty much run it like stock.. Steerin wheel controls, xM, blutooth...door chimes? lol all that..

Oh! and also.. this seems pretty simple.. but Pioneer sells they're lil ipod adaptors http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-CD-IU2...ref=pd_sim_e_1 , but can I just use a regular iPod cable??

the head unit has usb input which means a regular usb ipod cable should work as well as flash drives.

in regards to the harness' check out the stereo faq for the specific adapter you'll need. if i'm not mistaken you'll also need the radio antenna adapter as well.

other then that everything else should work as if it were stock

ya well the bluetooth should be built in, to enable xm you'll need the adapter and the same for steering wheel controls you'll need the adapter. i've got an older pioneer HU with the adapter i also have the xm unit but haven't hooked it up yet as i never renewed my subscription

i've heard good things from the AVIC series, kenwoods aren't bad for a more of a budget. In reality all of them are gonna be about the same for install as they are all gonna require the adapters and such

I have been trying to figure out excatly what I need to swap out my head unit also. Never really got a straight answer. I'm not worried about XM, steering controls or any of that but $100 for a harness then the install kit just seems retarded to me. I found the scoshe(spelled right?) kit at walmart for $80 but I don't want to buy it then it be the wrong one. All this for a $110 kenwood I had from my truck.

PM me or post here. i can help you with anything you need..

i have the p4200.... only difference is no pandora control for ipod. heres what i bought

* AVH -p4200dvd ($499)
* metra harness (you loose door and blinker noise) (i think it was $50)
* XM adapter - removed the stock box on rear deck and replaced with adapter...used stock antenna to plug in ($50)
* PAC steering wheel control - you can use your steering wheel controls...it can be a PITA trying to change volume or channels if road is bumpy..steering wheel is nice ($50)
* Dash kit ($20)
* Antenna adapter ($40)
* iPod adapter- by the one you mentioned, it lets you watch video and charges iPod / iPhone. if you use regular ipod cable, no video and i don't remember if it charges ($50)

i bought all from Amazon for about $700 shipped to my door
easy install and right away you'll notice a difference in sound, even using stock speakers
i didn't need blue tooth or navigation, but i could upgrade those later if i wanted to, thats what's nice about these radios, you don't have to buy what you don't need

i grabbed a switch form work and wired it to the parking break thing, so i can bypass it and watch videos on the go. my switch is under the steering wheel, where there's a weird notch cut out...the switch fits perfect there and it's out of sight

correct... unless he is trying to install an aftermarket sub.

i didn't mention it earlier, but since i had to run wire for the XM receiver on the rear deck, i also ran a remote wire and RCA's to the trunk, incase i wanted to put in an aftermarket sub.

let me tell you right now though, my stock sub on an aftermarket radio, with sound deadener in the trunk bumps HARD. i don't think i will be putting in an aftermarket sub/box

sorta but not really. i mean no offence to him or you but that's basically the same thing you included on your first post with the added approx prices. i mean thats awesome if thats all your looking for but the only thing that doesnt really need a part number is the xm adapter
