Laser jammers aren't illegal, at least in Michigan; got one on the Benz.

They are 50 state illegal. Trust me! Go tell a trooper you got one then, just don't use your one phone call to tell me i'm right. You'll need it for other people . I was a federal cop for a quite some time. I still have the federal penal law book upstairs. It's illegal and to be honest, it's not a big secret, except obviously to you. Good luck with that, just don't act surprised if you get caught.

And they don't have to be right next to you to do it.

What you are describing is called "triggering" and is illegal in most states now, because to be totally accurate on radar, it takes a couple of seconds to be accurate when first turned on, so the experts say. Laser is always like you said. You judge their speed, aim the laser at the intended car and pull the trigger. It fires a laser beam and it's instant. A cop CANNOT use a laser when they are moving. You must be at a stop to use laser. If a cop is following behind you and they tell you they got you on laser, they're lying.

You might have misunderstood. I was pointing out that they DON"T have to use radar or a laser to gauge your speed. One trick they use around here is unmarked vehicles to pace you and radio in to a marked unit, or just unmarked but with lights and in uniform. You never know you've been tagged until you have blues in your rearview. If the cop is doing his job right, your radar detector is useless.

Ah, pacing, ok. Yeah your right. You can actually do for a stand still if you some place that has a lot of city or state light poles or telephones poles. Those are always put the same distance away and you need to pass at least three poles if I remember correctly. You count one-one thousand by 3 poles and I forget the number you divide that by and it gives you a rough speed, usually within 5 miles an hour. Neither this or pacing are exact which is why you can almost always beat it or get a huge reduction fighting it in court.

The only laser you can beat is with a jammer and they're illegal and the fine is HUGE! Plus cops know when you have one, so they'll strip your car to find it! If you pass a cop and your detector goes off and you're speeding, doesn't mean it worked! LOL! I love that part when people say that! It means that many things could be happening in the patrol vehicle. He's not paying attention because he/she has it on a set speed alarm and is ready the paper, napping, whatever and they're not sure of the car because now you've hit the brakes, or the cop doesn't care, you're speeding but not enough to give up their spot, cause they just got there and some other **** nut will be bye in the next 30 min or so going faster. There's many more too. Just consider yourself blessed or lucky and cruise on. Oh, and if you do get stopped and the cop says he/she got you on radar, then you ask if the A/C was on in the car and if they say yes, then politely ask the cop to put that in the remarks box. A/C in the patrol cruiser makes radars inaccurate!
Now some people will say that some or all of this in not true. Too you I say whatever. I've spent many a class hours teaching and receiving info on traffic enforcement. If you are saying it's not true, but know it really is, then I say to you, what department do YOU work for? If you speed you will simply have to take your lumps when they come or get educated on traffic laws, not buy detectors! Good luck all!

I agree, anyone who speeds does it willingly and knows the consequences, So instead of trying to find ways around the law just obey it, Safer and hasslefree

Could you please elaborate a little more on how a cop using his A/C would make his radar inaccurate? That doesn't quite add up to me.

laser blocking is not illegal... radar scrambing is...

the escort 8500 and the bel rx65pro (i think thats it) are two of the best...

one thing to remember about radars, if you're the only one in the area, you're getting a ticket, period. and if you're doing 150mph, you're getting a ticket. lol

dont believe the hype on the k40, they will pay for your ticket, but what about your insurance when it goes up?

and the valentine has one of the worst false rates ever... we swap them for escort 8500s more than anything.

oh and as far as cordless, check out the Escort Solo S2. thats the one i use, and i love it.

I did an intership with a police department for 1 month. No one told me anything about the A/C but they did show me turning the heat on full blast and sticking the gun in front of it seriously does register a random speed. I thought that was pretty funny. It was an older K-Band Kustom Signals gun. I can't see heat or A/C affecting any fixed mounted radar though since it is well out of the way of the vents.

This is not the case anymore.. Trust me.. . Don't waste your money on a laser or radar detecter.

you don't want a ticket? then just drive normal till some other jackass speeds past you and then just keep up with him, any oncooming cop cars can only see how fast the guy coming on to them is going, not they guy behinde, untill they pass, this gives you time to slow down. i work on the cop cars in our town, and test drives are fun. ya learn lots

laser detectors dont work. my teacher was a motorcycle cop in miami he knows. they don't. Best advice is to do what i do... learn where the cops sit on the streets and parking lots and learn where the troopers sit in the highways. i speed ALOT and have yet to get into an accident or get a ticket it works, trust me
