Radar: Passport 8500 vs Valentine V1
Ok so my question is if the V1 is better than the passport and if so how much better. Reason I'm asking is because I have been pricing them and the passport is around 300 and the valentine I believe around 400 but through my job I can get the passport for a little under 200. So if there's either minimal or no difference then I'm probably gunna go for the passport.
Sorry ahead of time if this is a repost but I wanted opinions on the better product AND the better deal.

V1 is way better than a passport. Check out radardetector.net, theres lots of discussions there on the different radar detectors, and for specific reviews see: http://guysoflidar.com/august-2007/r...ctor-test.html

The only major advantage of the V1 is the fact that is has "arrows", if you can get an 8500 for $200 I say get it, the V1 is not worth the extra $200 IMO.
If you can get the 8500 for cheaper, what can you get the 9500 for?
The V1 is probably marginally the "better" product, but is it the best deal... I say no.

V1 actually has the better range on all bands, but you can look at reviews yourself, including the escort 8500 x50 at the guysoflidar site. I am def not saying V1 is the best for everything, but it is the most sensitive, and the arrows are nothing to laugh about once you see them in action.
Now, for city driving, I would not recommend a V1 because while being very sensitive it will pickup all the door openers and all the false K radar signatures and drive you nuts.
But IMO where the V1 shines is for highway use, and only really comparable to the Passport 9500i. Both V1 and Passport 9500 go for the same price, while the major difference is the Passport has GPS filtering of false alarm locations, and V1 has it's arrows. They both seem have about the same detection range.
I say if you have the money, go for either the Passport 9500i or the Valentine1, but don't get a cheaper detector just because it's cheaper in price. If you do, you might as well just spend $30 on a Cobra and call it a day.

Either 300 or 350 now that I think about it cause they all were around 100 off. Is there an extreme quality difference between that one and the 8500?

I have the 8500 escort for over 5+yrs, it's the best bang for your buck. Saved my ass many times. I hard wired mine above the mirror & you can barely see it. I think the V1 is a bigger unit too. But I'm not sure.

Is it hard to hardwire the unit? Just don't want to make it obvious that I have one by having this cord hanging down the windsheild. Also are there any known how to's on that?

this is the one I got^^^^
Then I put it under the plastic piller thingy & tucked the wire under the headliner. Then have it go with the wire to the mirror, so it looks factory.
I hope u under stand my garbage typing

Yes but I did not use them & from car to car it will be diff. on how to wire it. I did the clip thingy to the radio fuse. If you got a friend who knows a little about wiring ask him to help u.

This one is for reign..
First price is how much it retails for and the second is the discounted price I would get.
Passport 8500x50 - 309.99 - 188.05
Passport 8500x50(blue) - 349.99 - 211.35
Passport 9500i - 449.99 - 296.34
