Radio help

I have an 08 cobalt and I want to put a pioneer h/u in it. I don't have on star or premium radio. I got a fm adapter and wired an ignition source to it and when I tried everything out none of the speakers worked and none of the gauges or chimes worked. I'm fine with the chimes not working. But I not ok wit the tach fuel and speedo not workin did I do something wrong or do I need that $$$$ adapter

forward firing? i've got 2.5 cuft too but it's ported and I'm thinking the width of the box is ******* with the sound....not enough bass getting into the cabin...how wide is yours?

yup forward firing. Thats the main problem with 15s is not enough room to let air back in the cab if it fires back. how tall and wide is your box. try scooting it back towards the trunk and see if that helps.

mine is 16" tall 37 i believe wide on the bottom and like 30 wide on top

i'm surprised you've never seen my box.

well we essentially have the same dimesions as well as exact same volume, but mine has port/sub facing the rear and I definitely feel like it's not transferring right...loads off the trunk SO hard yet not much gets to the front cabin. I guess I'll try moving it more towards the trunk a little bit or even forward fire it to see the difference...I've always been against forward firing though with a bass reflex enclosure :[

Yes on the subs no on the amps... i only ran those amps for a weekend. i needed smaller amps then my ppi's so they fit on the back of the seat better for a comp plus it was close to rf HQ and a few guys planned on showing so figured running some rf amps couldn't hurt

if your box is that big then ya your shooting urself in the foot and trapping the bass in the cab. How deep is it? can u make it deeper and trim some off the top or sides? all i can tell you abotu forward firing is until the second i had it "done" it was hard to be "satisfied" to demo it i had to pop the trunk because theres mad cancellation but once i sealed off the trunk that all went away. mind you i went above and beyond sealing it up. its not quite but pretty close to air tight

Yes I put the stock radio back in the harness I got my buddy at the local stereo shop gave me and said all I needed to do was run a hot wire from a keyed hot to the red wire on the radio that's way I did and that's when everything went crazy

what wire is your ignition?

and yea I already have some new enclosure designs that i sent out for a while back, was just wondering if my current dimensions were part of the reason for my hinderance. thanks for the tips.

well all i can say is its the wrong harness. from what ive seen the gm lan wire is purple in our cars but i wouldn't rely on that.
