Rattles and sound deading

OK so I got my sub mostly done, and everything is rattling. Its a little hard to tell where its comming from but I think its both rear side panels and the rear deck piece. Were are common areas that cause problems? What do most of you do to stop it? I want to do some sound deading but ***** expensive. What brands are out there that are less expensive and work well?

Thanks,
Sean

The things that vibrated for me were the covers for the baby seat hook things, the clear part of the dome light, the rear view mirror (which was just loose anyway) and the door handles on the outside. Of course my sub is probably no where near as powerful as yours. For the dome light I stuck two small pieces of the foamy double faced tape and only uncovered one side, and stuck them on the flat part by the two hooks, so now it's up in there under tension. As for the baby seat things I took them off and put a very very small dab of epoxy to hold it shut, I did it small in the event I ever need to use them, I can just break it free. (Granted, I don't plan on using them any time soon at 19...)

A little trick that sometimes helps. Wrap some electrical tape around the hook that the trunk latch clicks too.

Thanks for the insight guys, keep it comming. As far as not being as powerful as my sub, its just 1 10" nothing crazy.

In the trunk on the passenger side there is a plastic/rubber vent. Its ment to give the air a place to escape when you close the doors. Its about 8-10" long and about 6" high, It clips into the trunk wall, just behind the wheel well, right below the antenna. It rattles like a ****. I ripped it out and then covered it with Dynamat. If you take it out be sure to cover the whole with something. If you don't want to spend the cash on sound dampener then at least use duct tape so water does not get in the car

I am having the same problem. Somewhere I read a post that said to put a towel in between the rear deck. Does this mean between the bottom metal part of the deck and the top fabric cover?? It rattles like crazy. Anyone ever tried the RAAMmat material?? Is it still sold on their web-site?? Also, I noticed some car audio forum members can get a discount on some products??....

yes on the towel. Rammat isnt the best stuff out there and but it works. Unfortunatly whats rattling on the rear deck isnt the metal so using that to help the rear deck rattle would do pretty much nothing

Maybe next May I will tear the interior out and do the whole floor and doors with dampner, and then a layer of foam....But for now I dont see it happening before then. Kind of out of money for now and dont want to take my car apart with cold weather here already. Just looking for ideas to help with the rear deck and trunk area. Some good ideas here to try I guess. So, the plastic inserts and stuff on the rear deck rattles quite a bit, and the rear deck carpet cover?? Also read about the plastic vent piece.....makes sense. Any other spots to check?? Does wrapping tape on the trunk latch really help??...Will it help to point the subs towards the rear seats instead of towards the back of the car??..thanks for the ideas....

the trunk latch doesnt rattle for me so i wouldnt know. I would only do that if you get that to rattle (even then just add the vibration mat on the trunk lid to make it heavier and it might fix it)

what works really well for me, expanding foam... and weather stripping.. I used the weather stripping on the back deck on the piece fitted above the rear speakers, on all the contact points with the actual body, works great!

ya thats not reall secure so you just need to use a vibration dampener on the mount
