Ever consider buying one of walmarts build your own box kits?
Since you goign kinda the budget route you coudl always buy clearance stuff and grab a good wiring kit with a cap. So it won't dim her lights at least. I did that for a GF I once had and she didnt' liek it cause he lights dimmed. It was a bad alt on her cavi but hey, to fix it I used my cap. Damn thign cost more than her whole setup.

Well here it is...this should be both quality and good sound for cheap, not the best but if I only had 300 this is what I would do:
1-12" Kicker CompVR 89.99

1-Sealed Enclosure 59.99
Bump in YOUR trunk-Priceless
But seriously that totals to like 310.00, that's not bad and it will give you quality as well...
