Replaced stockies with aftermarket

I just replaced all 4 speakers with some aftermarket Pioneers 6.5s and 6x9s. Im glad to see that the 6x9s actually fit in the holes unlike the cavalier i had. But that on part i had trouble with was the rear pillars. the damn plastic piece with the metal clip on the end kept folding over when i was tryin to put it back on. Finally i got it but i hope i wont have change them out again haha. But the speakers sound a whole lot better than stock. Now i just have my flip out and my subs/amps with the custom enclosure to put in.

What Pioneer 6x9's did you put in there? I was thinking about it since I replaced my door pannel speakers with Pioneers already... thanks

You're lucky. The Rockford Fosgates I installed back there were too big. I had to mount them from underneath.
Makes for easier removal though!

Mounting them underneath wasn't that big a deal. All you have to do is take the screw hole insert thingys out, turn them upside down, then pop them back in. I even used the 2" screws that came with the new speakers and they weren't long enough to hit the rear deck panel. That surprised me. There's actually quite a lot of room underneath that thing.
I never took the rear deck lid out. It bent just enough to get underneath and pull the stock speakers out, even with my big arms shoved up in there.

I just ordered my 4 speakers to replace the stock ones. For the doors I'm putting in 6.75" Kenwood 1789ie's, and for the rear I'm putting 6.5" Alpine SPS-170A's.

I'm replacing the 6x9's with 6.5's because I figure if I add a sub in later, it would make for a better setup with 4 mid/high speakers and then a nice low sub for the bass. I can't wait to install these!

Also, if you order from Crutchfield (crutchfield.com), they give you EVERYTHING you need (brackets, wire harness, etc.) plus most of there stuff is shipped for free. I got all four speakers for $140 shipped.

No. Its more of a normal setup if you HAVE the upgrade. If you just have the base radio option the speakers are held in by one screw and a clip, so you will have to drill your own screw holes for the new speakers. If you have the Pioneer system, 6.5" speakers should be a direct replacement. I don't know what the wiring is like for the upgraded system but for the base you can just cut the connector off and put spade terminals on the wires (after looking up the thread on here that tells which wire is pos and neg).
