SIR-GM1 incompatible with 2006 Cobalt?

I was on Crutchfield's site yesterday checking the price of the SIR-GM1 tuner, and I had the search results filtered according to what would be compatible with my vehicle (06 SS/SC with Pioneer system). When I scrolled to the bottom of the page, it says "This item does not work with the factory system in your car." I changed my vehicle to "without the Pioneer system" and it says the same thing. I know that several of you have been waiting for the SIR-GM1 as well, so I wanted to see if anyone has installed it and verified this fact.

Thanks tiny! I really appreciate the clarification and doing a search for the SIR-GM1 didn't yield much info, so I appreciate your help.

Yes. This kit consists of a tuner and wiring harness that will allow the use of all the factory stereo and steering wheel radio controls with Sirius instead of XM. The only thing I am unsure of is if it is possible to use the factory antenna and not impact any of my factory car phone or Onstar functions when performing the conversion. I know that there is a guy who is a member on Sirius Backstage forums who makes and sells a cable to allow the use of a factory XM antenna with the SIR-GM1.

yea, the GM1 will basically make the car seem like it was made for sirius, all the xm functions will switch over

until then, i have an fm modulator direct wired into my antenna/stock head unit
quality is awesome

I have the inline modulator and it's pretty good, but on the upper freqs it seems to be a bit fuzzy. It's a lot better than a wireless modulator.

What kind do you have?
