Speaker to RCA. Install question for a kicker p10 in my Vette
Hey guys/gals
So over the weekend, I bought a Kicker BassStationP10 stub/amp combo for my 95 LT1 Vette Coupe. Just wanted some kick without shaking the car to death. I have my reasons for going this route so I'll leave it at that.
Question/plan is essentially this. I was to use the radio to control the bass levels through RCA. However the sub doesn't have RCA outputs to the radio. Kicker makes a ZISL converter to use the RCA, but the cable length is so short and is about $15. Question is, will any speaker to RCA signal cable work? Or is it just easier to tap in to the left and right speakers (which isn't hard) and use the separate bass controller that came with it?
I don't really what a place I can think of to put the bass controller at, but since I have to go to the back of the radio to put in the remote wire, figure i might as will go with the RCA idea. I feel like I'll be "sitting" right on top of the bass in my Vette, vs my Cobalt with two 12 in subs, but they're "further away" and behind the seats.
Links below are to the product and the PDF for the instructions

More just curious as to thoughts / opinions on this install. The rest I should be able to figure out.

um im confused by the question. You want to use the radio to control the bass? Since its not an aftermarket radio you wont have direct control of the sub however if u lower or raise the bass on the radio it will affect both the sub as well as the factory system as normal.
The speaker to RCA is unnecessary. you want to just splice the factory wires and connect to the supplied harness directly.
Do some research on the car and see if any of the speakers are "filtered" with a factory crossover. Im not sure if the 95 will give u hell but for the 07 you would have had to get signal from the doors

Forgot to mention I do have an aftermarket Sony radio. Can't remember the model off hand. Did some more research and also realized I forgot the plan a way for power wire to run to the battery. Having bust buy install it now since they've done most of the work on car radio and speakers. I'm getting a deal in the end.

Thy guys have installed my radio/speakers in my vette, speakers in the cobalt, and full sound system in my old sunfire have done perfect jobs each time. I only let one guy touch my Vette there though. Seen plenty of newer and older Vette's in there before. They did a perfect job and wired better than I might have done.
