Speaker Troubleshooting Suggestions?

My 2005 LS has the basic stereo (not the fancy Pioneer option with the seperate amp). Both front speakers are not working.

Can someone give me a trouble shooting sequence?

Do I want to remove the head unit first and look for loose wires?

Can someone tell me what color wires go to the front speakers and what sort of voltage should I be looking for in those wires in order to check to make certain the head unit is putting out a signal?

Or, should I start by pulling the door panel and yanking a speaker and plugging it into the rear speaker wiring to test the speaker itself?

Is there somewhere between the speakers and the head unit where I can get at the wiring harness and look for voltage on a partricular colored wire to see if the headunit has an output?

Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Spud

i would start by pulling the door panels and checking the speakers. if not that then at the HU try sending voltage to those wires (with the hu unplugged) and see if u hear a sound or not (you want a small battery a 9v is easiest)
