starting to get a sound system put together
All right for all the audio experts on here, I am starting to piece together and build a sound system for my 07 cobalt coupe. As of now I have a kenwood double din, rockford fosgate 6.5 round front speakers, and rockford 6x9 rear speakers.
Looking to get a dual 12 subwoofer setup. Trying to figure out best bang for the buck, as well as deep bass.
I do not want a complete overpowering system that the "gangsta" kids have that u can here from a mile away, but just want a decent thumping system that turns heads.
A friend of mine has a 1000 watt system setup right now and its a bit too much for me so im probably looking into a 600-800 watt setup preferably but definitley open to options thru the experts on here.
I want the subs to fit nicely in the trunk without it looking like a misplaced box in the back. Looking for something that fits nice and looks nice, plexiglass over the subs or amp if need be. Obviosly a good setup that allows me to get to the tail lights and battery still. Just looking for help, suggestions, reviews, anything lol
So any help would be great.

If you don't want a gangsta setup you honestly don't need two 12" subs. I had one 12" Alpine Type R in my Dodge Neon in HS 5 years ago and my ears are still fucked up to this day because of it. Get one 12". Hell, even a 10" would be fine.

my bad im looking for rms. Still doing tons of research. I would prefer brand names like rockford fosgate, pioneer, etc. so im basically looking for an amp in the 1200-1800 range that will power the subs and get a total system wattage of around 800-1200

empjj- you seem to be the expert on here on audio, so how does dual sundown audio subs (400 watt rms each) they come in 2 ohm or 4 ohm 10 inch or 12 inch (dont know which size would fit better?)
and a aq1200d amp?

Well I know now I am going with the 10 inch sundown e series (rated at 400 watts rms)
with that aq1200d aq series amp. (rated at 1200 watts rms).
The subs come in either 2 ohm or 4ohm (I'm guessing 4 ohm since I am getting a pair?)
Then how would I run that to get the most out of the subs since the amp is rated at 1200?

at 1 ohm would get full pwoer from the amp. ud also probably blow the subs since ud be giving them what a 3rd more power then they are rated. i mean u can do it seeing as ive done worse but u have to be really careful and know what ur doing
dual 4 will get u 1 ohm dual 2 will get u 2 ohm with a pair
dual 4 will get u 1 ohm dual 2 will get u 2 ohm with a pair

I dont want the full use of the amp. just the full use of the subs. So 800 watts total (since they are 400 watts a piece) is it possible too hook it up that way or will it be difficult? im pretty noob to this lol

I wouldnt go with that amp personally but if you do I would do dual 4ohm subs that way if you need/want the power you have it. You can always turn down the power on the amp.

So my best bet is to just get the dual 2 ohm subs and wire them to be a 2 ohm load at the amp? Here are the amp specs:
Specifications
Model AQ1200D
Frequency Response 20Hz—250Hz
Signal to Noise Ratio 100db
Low Pass Crossover 24db / Oct
Low Pass Crossover Range 20Hz—200Hz
Subsonic Crossover Range 10Hz—50Hz
Input Sensitivity 0.2V—8V

Keep in mind this would be my setup. I will never upgrade it with this equipment, meaning I will never get a different amp for those subs, if I ever upgrade I will only get different equipment. Basically, I will not change the setup on this equipment.
Also does anybody know anybody who would build a custom box?

running that amp with those subs might not be the most cost effective but to be honest at 2ohms ull get cleaner sound and u wont have to worry about running the amp all crazy bc it will only get to 2/3 potential. MIND YOU that doesnt mean you can crank the gain and all the knobs and not worry about it

Is there another amp with similar build quality and reliability you reccomend?
I am not fully set on that amp, just been on some other car audio forums and talked with experts that know alot more crap than I do and they reccomended that one out of reliability and potential. I just want a decent amp that I can run without having and present or future problems
