Stereo Locked. Have A ? About It.
Hey Guys,
My stock stereo is fucked up and it maintains constant power rather than switched. So now I have to remove the fuse so I won't come out to a drained battery the next morning. This is a PITA since it also renders my keyless entry useelss. So I eBayed another OEM one since my dealer won't look at it until January 12th.. Now of course, this one is locked. With these newer radios (mine is 2006), is it just as easy as pulling into the drive-thru service and have them go at it with a tech 2? This guy is telling me that to unlock it, it needs to be completely re-programmed which I would have to make an appointment for....in January. This pisses me off and I do not want to be without a radio until next year. Please help me!
Is this guy full of **** and I should call him out when I go down there this afternoon?
Is there another fuse I can disconnect that will power down the radio but still allow my FOB to work?
Thanks in advance guys.

Its not a locked thing its a reprograming thing.
The radios are car specific, so they are programed to the VIN or the BCM or something like that.
You have to take it the dealer and have them fix it but I warn you, few have achieved full working stereo's I think there was one guy who did it but he knew a guy who knew a guy at GM. Other than that its a huge pain in the ass. Go after market it will be less stress.
Good Luck
