Stock Radio Display Problem

So this morning I drove about 15 minutes to the golf course bumping some tunes like usual. Got back to my car about 3 hours later and when I turned on my car the display on the radio was all messed up. It looked as if every single green dot was lit up, so all the text looked like jumbled hieroglyphs. Every single thing was turned on on the display. I can run outside and take a picture if I'm not explaining it well enough.

I turned off the radio and turned it back on a few times and no dice. I turned the car off and on a few times as well and its still messed up. Is my stereo FUBARed for good? Is there a fix for this? Its really annoying because I can't see what track or radio station is playing.

I have the same issue but mine just does it randomly, usually when I start it but sometimes it will be fine and I hit seek+(to change tracks on a cd) and it goes stupid.

not to necro an old thread, but this has happened to my stereo twice now..... the last time it happened (July) it was hot, found this thread "phew, must just be from being warm, okay, good to go"........
however, this morning (<50 degrees out), it was dong it again. just checked it again a minute ago, still in FUBAR mode............. anybody know why our quality GM product does this??

Because it is old.
I punch mine, it works usually.

Replacing it with a AVH-x5500BHS this weekend.
Forever fixing the issue.

Mine seems to do it randomly, whether hot or cold. If I wasn't broke an had a good phone I'd slap in an AppRadio 3.

App radio 2's are pretty decent in price brand new. Sub $150 on ebay.
