So how should I secure the MDF ring to the box using screws or glue and them the permatex?

My sub is a little to deep so I have a 3/4" spacer I need to glue/screw onto the box.

If your bolt pattern for the new sub is the same as the factory one, I would use really long screws, lots of permatex on the ring of the factory sub box, and screw the sub and mdf ring right to the box as one piece, right into the factory screw locations

If your new speaker is a different pattern, just permatex and screw the MDF ring to the enclosure, make sure to countersink the screws. Then just screw your new sub to the MDF ring (permatex if you want too).

Thanks, I will have to pull it out this weekend and see how the holes line up with the new one.
