ported is the same as vented... and there is no real best enclosure they all have flaws and u have to pick the one that you prefer persay. eiter way ported is generally louder then sealed anyway and built right plays low and loud

I used to have 2 12 alpine type Rs. I had them in a prefabbed ported box. It was tuned to 38hz (Give or take, it was prefabbed). I also had them in a sealed box. Generally, you will get more quality in sealed boxes however ported boxes will be more louder. If you tune to 33-35Hz you will get a mixture between SQ and SPL. I'd pick ported anyday.

Just curious, what amp do you plan on running? I had a jl 500/1 running the 2 12s. Even below the rms, they still sounded nice.

depends.. its best to have a box made for the specifications and air space your subs required..

i prefer sealed though.

right now i have a mitzu amp it claims 3200 watts but i doubt it i hope to get a different one before i install i will probably install the system after Christmas because i have to save to buy presents for Christmas right now but i will be picking up small pieces of the system along the way

also on another note i have read that ported is loud and sealed is clarity but vented is a mix

there is no difference from vented and ported. Just 2 different words for the same thing that people will use to confuse you and make you buy something

If you can fit a vented box I've always liked the sound better. Depending on how much power you are pushing a sealed box may not seem much different

For the most part, flared ported (as you call ported) is less likely to produce port noise. If you are low on space then a flared port is the way to go. I'd rec. a slotted port tho.

a properly designed box is less likely to produce port noise, shape doesnt matter
