Subwoofer Volume??
Hey there,
I just received my new 07 cobalt ss/sc with the pioneer sound system!!
I absolutely love how it sounds, although I do feel it could use a little more bass...
From what I have read, those who are looking for more bass are required to swap out the factory subwoofer+amp...
Is there just no adjustments on the amp to increase subwoofer output???
I know of the bass/mid/treb adjustments in the menu/eq settings, but I was wondering if theres a physical adjustment for the amp itself.
Thanks,
Matt

The problem is that I don't think there is an easy way to change the amp without removing the stock subwoofer and taking it out of its stock box. And I am sure the built in amp does not have any way to make adjustments.

Unfortunately, the above is all true. The Sub is bridged from the rear 6/9's and connected to the amp. Therefore there is no way to control the sub. Even if you change the amp, you would still need a head unit that has a sub woofer controller, the factory deck doesn't. What you can do is, change the head unit to a good after market one with a sub woofer controller, then connect the sub to another amp and have it directly connected to the deck. This way, you still have your inside speakers connected to the factory amp, and the sub connected separately via another amp.

well, u could always bridge an aftermarket amp to the 6x9's, and if that aftermarket amp has remote gain control, that would work wouldnt it?

sure you can do all sorts of things. Problem is that doesnt really help you much.
You could add a monoblock amp to just the sub leaving all the speakers and stock amp alone but since the stock sub is so weak and really maxed out as it is it will blow pretty fast.
You could swap the cd player with one with a "sub" output but you would require an aftermarket amp anyway to utalize this function. Plus since swaping the HU on an 07 is a bit pricy or you loose functions i wouldnt replace the HU for just that.
The cheapest and best thing for you to do is get an aftermarket sub and amp and use the stock enclosure.

I completly got rid of the stock sub and encloser. Went out bought an Rockford fosgate amp and an MTX thunder series 12, ran a high/low converter to the rear speakers which allowed the rca's to plug into, then I taped into the tails for the remote wire.
