Hey guys i was wondering what pac unit you all are using either the ps or the x unit? im thinking the ps will work due to the wired remote input.

what exact connectors do you need to hook it up and still retain onstar and steering wheel controls in an 06 with the pioneer system? Emp, i asked you, then Crutchfeild gave me a different answer, looking for someone here that actually has it and has these functions.

i don't care if i keep the factory XM or not. probably gonna shave that antenna anyways.

I'm not to sure about the steering wheel controls but check this thread out in regards to the onstar
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/electronics-audio-video-49/2006-cobalts-pioneer-onstar-aftermarket-hu-amp-install-parts-106660/

It seems like alot work for Onstar, but then again I don't have it and don't really know what I'm missing

This will be difficult to explain. If you do not understand this, please call.
What you will need is the 99-3303 kit, quantity two SP-2003 speakers, a 95-3302 kit, and a 40-GM10 antenna adapter. You will have to remove the harness and display off the 99-3303 kit, and disregard the plastic kit. Then hide the display somewhere in the dash where you will not see the lighting of the display. Then cut the white and grey speaker wires coming out of the 99-3303's interface, and send to the SP-2003 speakers under the dash where they will be mounted.

You have to use the 99-3303 because it is the only interface we have for that vehicle to retain Onstar. You have to cut the speaker wires out of the interface to have the built in amp in the interface power the speakers because you are installing an aftermarket amplifier.

I guess you maybe to use any old speaker instead of the provided part number and instead of putting the display behind the dash put it run underneath the double din in a custom mount. I'm going with a double din head unit and I'll probably put the metra display in the glove box.
does look like a lot of work, but i think it's worth it for what onstar is/does.
