For those of you wanting to put an SS sub box in a LT or LS!
I bought this box from Slowbalt_06... and i used my kicker 400.1 and my Tsunami 2 Farad CAP for the install. I have the JVC KDAVX2 radio for the headunit. Just wanted to post it out there to let everyone know it is possible. The holes are already in the metal for ya , just got to add some bolts to those holes and the carpet has already been cut accordingly.

o yeah i know that, but i have a tester at work that a old installer left that shows the electrical current and how it moves while CAPPED OR NON CAPPED . And the cap just cleans up the bass response and current flow. Kind of like how a MONSTER HOME AUDIO SURGE PROTECTOR cleans up over the air channels. It just smoothes everything out.
gotcha,yeah plus you can change out that sub with aftermarket ones as well.( LOW PROFILE ONES )

what ive been able to figure out over the years is some companies put 8,4,0, gauge wire on the box but it is mostly insulation , after stripping back the fosgate , tsunami, walmart , Lightning audio, and many others , so far Fosgate actually put 4 guage wire in and then covers it in insulation, so in turn it is alittle bit bigger than 4 gauge. People always get som pissed when you tell them how much a AMP kit is .....i dont think its that bad, full kit for 8 gauge is 65 and 4 gauge is 105 ....

yup i actually have 1ft sections of every type and kind of 4g wire i can get my hands on.... even knowing the diffrences in wire, cca ect ect looking at ~25 different pieces of wire and being able to do a direct comparison in weight and cross section even opened my eyes. companies are very tricky and alot of times its not quite as black and white as one assumes

my stock battery/alternator at this point is powering a 4ch amp, a class-d mono amp, and a full atx computer man. if i don't have problems without one on my setup, you definitely won't with yours.
if your concerned, get a optima yellow top but still ditch that cap. it's just a drag on your setup to be honest.

ummm ctcsoccer, the only reasoning i found was cause you found some electrical tester that a previous tech left behind which shows capped and not capped flows and how they compare.

aka.....i don't see any valid reasoning behind your decision. yes when a sub hits, you'd typically have a drop in voltage seen. while a cap helps to smooth these variations out, it does not solve the problem over extended bass notes, which i presume is what your trying to fix. and it puts additional strain on your system when it's not being utilized.....

anyone wanna make some sense here? to me a cap is severely over rated.
if you wanna solve the potential power issues, do it the right way or no way at all.
