Time for something better!

Still planning my audio. Getting tired of the stock headunit real fast - tired of the four speakers crapping out when I'm listening to it in the 30+ volume ranges. So, it's midnight. I'm bored. I'm looking at ways of spending my money.

So. Does this look half decent?

Pioneer FH-P800BT $459.99
Pioneer TS-W302R $89.99
Pioneer GM-D7400M $289.99

Harnesses, etc.
PAC C2R-GM11 $89.00 + shipping
Metra 40-CR10 $7.99
Metra 95-3302 $8.98 + shipping

I'm heavy on the Pioneer because I'm not sure where else to look - another thing is I'm on kinda a tight budget, being in school and all. I'd get the headunit first, gradually get everything else. I'm not concerned on the installation, that part is easy.

Is there anything better out there for under $700-$750? $1000 seems crazy for this little system. What do you recommend? What are you running? What has the best track record?

Thanks!

pioneer speakers are good but you really need to get into the higher end (read: expensive" stuff to get a good sound.

Okay, I'll check them out! I'm looking for a sub and amp to begin with - that's where the four speakers start hurting. 'Course, that's after I get the headunit.

How about those SSA's once again havent herd them but I herd there a good sub for a decent price.

ive only herd the Q (sq model) and its pretty badass. the SSA icon is supposed to be nice but who knows. asked a guy his opinion about the icon vs xxx (he is a real big fan of the xxx) and the response i got was they were similar yet not. sorta vague.

Hey spun where did u originally hear about dd? just wonderin

Alright, did some calling around to the few audio shops around here, found a place that sold Rockford stuff. How does this combo look?

Sub: http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/produ...n_US&p_status=
Amp: http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/produ...status=current

Thanks!

i have a pioneer HU, 4 infinity reference speakers, and a 300w alpine amp pushing the speakers. sounds great. i would deffinitly recommend infinity speakers. it sounds/feels like i have at least 1 10" sub but i only have 6.5's and 6x9's.

not bad. a lil too much power for the p1 but... You should also see if they do custom boxes. it will make the sub sound much better then a prefab

I had only herd of them in passing until I was a member at this site. I do remember seeing them in the IASCA standings (people using them) but couldn't find a local retailer that sold them.

I could not find them on ebay or any internet sales site for that matter, DD is really picky as to who they let carry their product. It was James thread on his install that sold me on them but I still needed to find them.

I went to the car audio place that I had my work done at with the intentions of having 2 10w6's put in but when I got there and saw the DD setup I was happy but was under the impression that they were going to be expensive, when he told me the price I just about choked on my gum, I almost didn't buy them cuz they were so cheap. I always believed in you get what you pay for. This was thhe exception to the rule.

In retrospect it was the smartest thing I could have done, well that and uping to 12's over the 10's (same price so why the hell not) but it was strock of luck finding someone who sells them local, He is the only DD retailer in all of western Canada, the next closest one is 12 hours from here.

On a side note, future plans are to get one more M2 and run them together (master, slave) and upgrade the subs to 9512's, the box sizes are almost the same (within 0.1 cubic feet) I would have to lenthen the port though. Hopefully by next summer, then we'll see if I can hit 150

Good to hear. Once I get my paycheck for September (and it's the amount I'm expecting), the headunit will be on it's way into my car. If I want to replace the speakers in the doors, what kind of work is required?

you would need to pop off the door panels and you need adapters (i have a pair fs fyi) for the 6.5s along with some speaker tabs. the 6X9s are a bit more difficult because the rear deck is a bitch

Hmm, okay. I might be interested in those adapters. I'd need four for my sedan, right? What about the 6x9's in the back? Where can I find the speaker tabs?
