Unlock Factory Radio with Tech2
I am wondering, because it would be cheaper, what procedure there is on a Tech2 to unlock my new factory radio. I don't want to take it to the dealer ($75), so I just want to tell someone I know with a Tech2 what to do to unlock my radio.
thanks
thanks

They should go into I believe it's either Security or Radio and then there's an option somewhere in there where it says "Relearn VIN" or something like that. That should program the radio to your car.
And sitenote*** $75? Your stealership sucks. Mine was only gonna charge $50.

Thanks lapila, is there an exact sequence of certain "buttons" or "menus" that we can go through to get to the Relearn VIN? He's a busy guy, so I want to be able to have a quick in and out service, mainly because itll be free, or cheap.

I saw/heard bits and pieces of it when I got mine unlocked, I'm pretty sure you plug it in and the main menu pops up and you either go into security or radio.
Found this on a GM Trucks forum. Might not be the EXACT same but should give you/your tech a guideline.
F0: Diagnostics
(vehicle year)
(body style
(make)
(model)
F6: Body and Accessories
Entertainment
F5: Module Setup
F0: Radio
F0: VIN Relearn
The Tech 2 will ask you if you would like to erase the theft data: "select yes"

Ok for the 2005-2006 Cobalt, it is this:
--Press Diagnostics
--Press Entertainment
--Press Radio
--Press UQ3 or UQ4 (UQ3 is for the Pioneer Premium Sound System, UQ4 is the base sound system)
--Press enter
And it'll have you good to go in just a few seconds.
Easy as pie.
$25 for me to use their Tech 2.
