Question Upgrading Pioneer Audio system

I'm looking to upgrade my whole system in my 09 ss. I've already put in the kenwood ddx512 and for the rear sub i want to just get a shallow mount sub and mod the stock box. As for everything else i have no clue whats good. I cant seem to find anywhere that gives the specs on all the stock speakers/tweeters. What would give me a good sound upgrade?

yea two twelves, not even 1000 watts, 500 would be nice as well...JL Audio is an extremely good company...it costs a little bit extra but its definitely worth the money. Ive had my subs for over 6 years and they still sound like the day i got them...as for the 6.5s....i went with pioneer and got a 4 channel amp...they sound amazing and make a huge difference. one recommendation would be to stuff your box with polyester stuffing to soften that hard "wood" sound you get from the bass bouncing off the MDF. also, if you're looking for really crisp sound...have the entire trunk dynomatted. Stereo equipment gets expensive but if you want it to sound nice, you have to do it right.

i took pinks stock sup out which is a duel voice coil sub. when i did i found that the stock amp is a 2 channel cause there was 2 positive and 2 negative on the stock harness one set running to each coil. so i hooked up two 10" memphis pr subs to the stock amp and it works super. much more bass. very simple to do and a worth while upgrade.

has nothing to do with the factory amp. unbolt ur stock sub and on the top is a plug. unplug that and remove the stock sub. not take the sub out of the box and cut the wires off the back of the sub. then pull the plug on the outside of the sub box and remove the plug and wires. then plug it back into the car and wire ur new subs. the wires you pulled out of the stock sub box are black and red so hook up is easy. and questions feel free to pm me.

no he wants you to put more power on the stock sub... can be done but might as well put something aftermarket

so our door speakers are 6"? i was looking on bestbuy.com just to get some ideas and they label theres like 6-1/2" is that right? im looking for door speakers with a nice looking cover so you can tell their aftermarket. ive never messed with speakers before and found this thread so i thought id just ask instead of starting a new one.

I am told the stock 10" sub is more shallow than other 10" subs, thus you cant use any old sub...is this true?

agreed.

i bought the kappa 6.5" set and they sound really nice. esp with a little power going to them.

i had to make an adapter out of some ABS plastic, but it worked.

Now, let me just make sure that i understand. I am going to use the stock enclosure with a shallow sub. I should be able to use the speaker wire that runs out to the stock sub to input signal to the high-level jacks on my amp, correct? This seems like the cleanest way to use an aftermarket sub in the stock enclosure. Any suggestions?
