The thought has crossed my mind, but I haven't tried it yet. Let me know how it works out, also what aftermarket unit are you using?

Pioneer 140bh. Like it so far, it pounds with factory stuff, got a reverse cam hooked up to it, works great. Just waiting for my 2.5 mm end to come in the mail, then I'll try, pretty sure it will work, all a mic is is a small speaker wired in reverse I think, don't quote me on that, I have turned a speaker into a mic, just don't remember how I wired it.

Also gonna be trying to use onstar cell/gps antenna connected to a cell booster soon. Or maybe figure out how to get the onstar booster to broadcast instead of direct connect, so I can go threw that

its easy. I use the OEM Onstar mic for my Pioneer Avic F900 and it works just fine.

the only pain is the onstar mic wires are super thin. make sure they are connected well.

It is a red and blue wire I beleive from the OEM Mic. If I recall blue was the Jacks ground and red was the lead. I did this like 2 years ago. going on memory now.

well i hooked up the one end on my wire to the mic, didnt take pics yet but will. pulled down headliner by sunroof a bit and unplugged mic, if u dont have sunroof u can just cut the wires as far up as u can. my cable has red and black wires, mic has red and blue, so connected red to red, and blue to black, red is for mic signal, black/blue connection is ground. still waiting on my connector to finish, but thats how ya do it on the mics side for those who wanna know
