True I don't like Best Buy here in Austin TX. They told me just to install the alarm system would be $600 :/ Then after doing some research and asking around I ended up going with a window tint dealer instead. I'll be honest the setup I have is a little over $1,000 (most in labor fees) but it's back up by my local viper dealers life time warranty (covers all the DEI equipment on my balt). I think it's worth the investment and time.

As far as the whole put your car in 1st then park just in case the brakes go out, I think it's worth the risk. I mean it's obvious that if your on a deep incline hill parking you should use 1st first gear then e-brake not worry about putting the vehicle in remote start mode but in most leveled out parking lots or driveways it's not too much of a worry just my two cents

The system in mine (compustar) will not start if the car is in gear and the clutch bypass isn't a nightmare like yours because the remote starter is designed to work on a manual. If you remote start it and it's in gear it will automatically kill the crank so car doesn't take off lol plus IMHO it's a way better system remotes aren't cheap looking and feeling like all the others

And if you paid over $1k for a remote starter you got robbed lol! Alarm/remote start at my shop installed would run you about 485 after tax and that's the same system I've got with lifetime warranty on brain and install

I didn't get robbed lol. I paid $350 for the viper 5704 with install. Plus all the other cool features like DEI 530T $250 with install, DEI 529T with install $125, Back up siren $75 with install, Tilt Sensor $20 installed, Viper Smart Start $250 installed. All together it's about $1,070 for me. Everything installed has a life time warranty with my installer so I'm pretty happy with it

But if your referring as only the alarm system itself for $1K yes that is getting robbed lol.
