VSS for Avic F90BT and 08 Cobalt SS
I am getting ready to install an AVIC F90BT in my 08 cobalt ss/tc... I have been researching the hookups, but their seems to be conflicting information concerning the VSS (vehicle speed sensor wire)... Could someone point me in the right direction? (Which of the following is correct?)
1.) There is no 'wire' that you can hook into for the 08 cobalt ss/tc's... the data obtained by the sensor is sent directly to the ecu which converts the data stream into 'speed'...
2.) You tap directly into the wire running from the sensor itself...which means running a wire to the engine compartment where the sensor is located...
3.) Screw it...doesn't matter and it doesn't affect the way in which the unit functions...you will never miss it....
If someone happens to know that there is a wire that I can tap into, could you please provide the location?

if you want vss that bad just buy the module harnesses. im pretty sure they come with one (can anyone verify)
if not 2 and 3 are mainly right... there is a vss in the car somewhere. some say by the transmission but i dont know. good luck finding it and more so testing to see if its even right.
navigation will work without a vss. but it works better with it. the only comparison i can think of right now is the clariton commercials. with vss is "calriton clear" and without is the foggy vision. Ultimatly navigation uses the GPS so speed sensor or no speed sensor it can figure it out. but the vss helps out alot
from the metra site. gm lan 04 instructions:
"THE GMOS-LAN-04 also PROVIDES a
MUTE, PARKING BRAKE, VSS OR SPEED SENSE,
AND A REVERSE OUTPUT TO MAKE INSTALLING
AN AFTERMARKET NAVIGATIONAL RADIO SIMPLER
AND LESS TIME CONSUMING."

Well I got the LAN 04 in the mail yesterday and according to the information provided with it... the VSS is included in the harness... so hopefully problem solved...however I may be looking at buying y adapters for the rca wires since one of the harness has them and I have already run some for the amps...
