What adapters to get?

I'm going to have two cobalts in the house and there both getting aftermarket radios, but I want them to fit in like they were stock, so her in lies the questions....

05 cobalt LS with base radio, what do I need to keep the RAP and the steering wheel controls? Anyone have a color number for the Satin Nickel (to paint the dash kit) or should I just take it to the paint store?

Am I missing anything? Wire harness numbers and dash kit numbers maybe?

And the Same thing for my 06 SS/SC (with onstar and XM), what adapters do I need?

I'm starting with the G/f's 05 so mostly I need to know the steering wheel controls and the RAP. Her radio is a Clarion DXZ955MC

Thanks for any help.

Steering wheel controls can be kept through a PAC interface Check these bad boys out . Depending on what kind of HU you want you have to get diferent ones. For the paint just take a dash piece to the paint store and they can match it up. Make sure the paint is for plastics though. I did not use a harness since I have all my speakers amped anyways. You can find dash kits anywhere. Onstar is not even worth keeping it is such a hassle, but you can search on here for stuff about that. XM antenna is also a bitch to keep. You are better off installing another antenna with an XM interface for the aftermarket deck.

Yes. No. The chimes will be kept regardless, but you will lose RAP unless the car has a sunroof or you find another wire that has RAP. If the car has a sunroof tap into that fuse and you will keep RAP.

Why not use the same +12V wire for the new deck, that was used for your stock one? Then you can keep RAP. And if that wire is not capable of delivering the 5A or whatever is needed for your deck (I dont know if it is) then simply find a 12V source that IS capable of running your deck and use the 12V RAP line as a relay trigger for the other 12V source.

I mean, if there is no 12V at the harness, then how does the stock deck get power? There's got to be one there.

The factory harness has a constant +12V but no switched power. The radio is told to turn on via data from GM's LAN. I'm not sure if that wire can be hooked to a relay to turn an aftermarket radio on but since it's not just a simple hot or not wire, I doubt it.

Ahh, that makes sense.
Sorry if I confused anyone then. What you can do in that case is still go with the relay option, but pull a switched wire from elsewhere. As was mentioned, the sunroof probably has a swiched 12V, or the power windows.
