Looks like an awesome set-up! One thing that has bothered me with your set up and many other's on this site is the black plastic surrounding bezel. Have you ever thought of painting the black plastic bezel silver to match the heater/ air bag warning light piece? I think by doing this, It would make the unit look like it came that way from the factory.

You have to cut some of the plastic and remove the metal bracket that sits behind the stereo in order to get some of the longer units to sit flush, alot of us have had to remove that "bracket from hell" as I call it, there are 4 7mm or 9/32 bolts that hold it in, or you could do something stupid like I did and cut it out, but this might result in personal injury as it did with me.

7" HU with trim bezel painted, I used a 2 step process of silver and satin to get it to match as best as I could. Also put a laquer or clear coat on it after and prime it first to avoid it scratching off easy

I too have the F700BT installed, and I didnt have to cut anything out or removed the "bracket from hell" It just fit right in with no problems.

BTW Nice job with the color match on the bezel, looks sharp, I think i just might do that also.

Yes but he was complaining that his Alpine iva-w205 stuck out 1/2 an inch.
This would make it one of the Longer units that I was talking about. My current HU wouldn't have needed to have the bracket removed either but a Panasonic HU that was in there before did, only some longer HU need the bracket removed and I guess the Alpine is one of them.

Thanks about the bezel, the only advice I can give to you is either do it inside somewhere or wait until the summer (unless you live in the southern part of the US) cold temps and spray paint don't mix. Also give it a couple caots but do not wait to long between coats, 1/2 an hour should do it, the paint sticks better when its still a bit tacky IMO

I put it on the rear decklid and it picks up fine. I dont know if tints will affect it however (i dont have em) but i think it looks better there than on the trunk lid IMO

I put my GPS antenna on the rear shelf removed the teather cover and ran the wiring underneath the shelf so all you see is the antenna itself.

Tints do not affect the reception. I have 15% on the rear window and GPS works great.

Krylon silver and Krylon nickle (satin) with a layer of clear coat at the end.
I also used a sandable primer to start and primed and sanded it 3 times to take the ridges or textured feal that comes with the metra kits out.

When I painted it I put down one layer of silver, then one nickle then a very light layer of silver over top, this way it darken the silver a bit to bring it closer to the stock colours.

You know if you live in the US you can bring a piece of the dash to one of those paint place's, I think it was Sherman Williams, and they will make you a can of spray paint to match the colour. James R did it and it was really clean looking. Since we don't have Sherman Williams in Canada I could not do this
