I've always contemplated taking a small canister of tear gas, and rigging it to go off inside the car if the window was ever broken. What kind of car thief would be expecting that, plus, I think I guy walking up to your car with a gas mask might look a little conspicuous.

It'd be kinda hard to steal the stereo when you can see the radio, or breathe for that matter. I'm sure its illegal, but so is car theft. Maybe a sticker on the window saying, "Thieves be warned, car is equipped with anti-theft countermeasures, enter at your own risk"

as for security install, as an installer at best buy, basic install labor is included with any unit purchased from us. Most best buys wont install anything other than DEI products

I have a Viper690XV that I want to install into my cobalt but I have not been able to find a good wiring diagram or instructions to do it myself, I'm and extech so I'm having a hard time giving up $150 for an install. Do you know where I could get instructions to do it myself. A good how to would be great.

If you have an alarm your windows will get smashed just as much as if it didn't. Your at the mall 800 feet from your car a guy smashes your window, steals your indash dvd player in less than 10 seconds, then by the time you get back to your car and turn the alarm off, it's gone.

If there's something in your car someone wants they'll smash your window for it. I keep nothing valuable in my car besides my ipod, which does not get left in the car.
