I Run all RF Speakers and subs. I have 2 12" P2s powered by a P3001 @ 425RMS along with Power 6 1/2 Components and 6x9s. Excellent stuff, their warranty is awesome, no questions at all (blew a former 1 mo out of warranty).
Two 12s shake the car really bad, I have more dynamat in the car than I want to admit and you still here a lot of rattles, most of it is out of the back deck lid. I find that if you put the rear seats down then it sounds amazing, but thats not always practical.

The only Fosgate equipment I would buy, any more, would have to be the power series..ie t1's t2's. I think the punch series are trash.
I had 2 P3 12's and they both had the same problem where the surrounds like dry rotted out of them. I ran them off a kicker amp giving them 50Wrms more than they wanted, and never really cranked my stereo. They had never gotten wet, or been in direct sunlight. And it is Pittsburgh it is not like we get 100 degree days anyways. They were in an enclosure custom built for them and had the right air space to spec that they wanted. Never abused and with in three weeks they both had their seals rotting out of them. I have never heard of anything else like this and I am on alot of audio forums, but it would still be hard to get me to buy anything of theirs again.

Like stated new rockford is JUNK, im a JL guy but i still love my 15" HX2 at heart. It really does produce a one of a kind bass sound.
And for those who dont know the HX2 in the 15" size come in 3 series. 1,2,3 basically. Which determines the different amount of RMS it handles. i had the 3 series which handles 1000 Watts of RMS at 2 OHM's... Lets say at 800RMS i had given it, it was definitely something fierce. at the time it was in the back of my explorer, and with a bass mechanics song on i managed to spider crack the back hatch window. Which was pretty cool to watch, but expensive as hell to fix.

I've got all RF amps in my Cavalier, along with 2 Power DVC 12" subs, I am very pleased with them. I tried some RF 3.5's for the front in the cav, but blew them out a while ago, I'll be changing over to infinities when I get some time. I am currently running Infinity speakers in all 3 cars I have put my money into. (except for my RF subs) I will be running a RF sub in my Cobalt, probably switching out one from the Cav so I can make better use of my Amps in the Cav. (4 ohm (stable) bridged Amp = 1050 RMS, DVC 4ohms don't get me there, I need dual 2 ohms) I bought JBL Amps for the Cobalt, I am also going to be purchasing JBL 6.5" components for it.
That was probably way more than you wanted to know, anyway, I like My RF equipment Alot.

Lol. What's wrong with JL? The fact that they are the only independantly owned comapny left in the country that still makes stuff in this country? Oh yeah, I forgot about that whole amplifiers lasting 10 years thing. That would be bad business for other comapanies who need their stuff to blow up so they can make more money down the road. Just out of curiosity, why did you decide to attack JL Audio as the leading car audio company in the country for 6 years running now? I would like a for real answer, not some BS about how Rockford is better because of so and so. Thank you. On a side note I am an authorized dealer of both JL and Rockford and I would sell JL all day long if it weren't for all these teenagers coming in with the idea that Rockford is the best. I get the same problem with the Alpine garbage too.

Yea Kicker is the way to go. The first speakers I ever had were to 10" Rockford Fosgate speakers. They were some of the nicer ones they made. Then I had 3 JL W0's which were pretty good. But then I bought an 8" Kicker L7, which is the equivalent of a 10" round speaker. So I had that speaker and 2 JL W0's, and it was outrageously loud. I could shake bowling pins in the bowling alley by my house. And I was not pushing that speaker hard at all because I did not want to blow my W0's. So I would suggest going with one L7 8" or 10". Big subs are better for real low bass, smaller for a larger range. I would think with a good amp, that is all you would need, and that wont take up much space at all.
And definitley make sure you have dynamat or somehting equivalent lining your WHOLE trunk. I bought dynamat for the underside of my trunk, and behind my panels. Then I bought another brand from Circuit City and added a second layer behind my panels, took out the crappy cardboard seperating my spare tire, and added a 3/4" piece of wood. Put some behind my license plate, made sure my tail lights were tight, and my car was basically silent for having as much power as it did. I cant stand when cars drive by with there trunks rattling, so I would do it right if your going to go with a decent amount of bass.

I have had a whole entire kicker car, and I currently run kicker amps. They are too much SPL and not enough SQ. Best "bang" for your buck is probably correct but not best quality for your buck IMHO. I personally think Alpine is best quality for your buck out of the big name companies you just said.
I personally think that JL is over priced and over rated, but are they a bad company? No I don't think that way at all. I do think that because of the higher prices shops try to push those at you more than anything else, and that is another reason I am put off by them. I think the R-types will give just as clear of a sound (if given a clean signal) as any JL, but just wont get as loud.
But even if money wasn't a factor I probably still wouldn't go with JL. I would pick a company like Soundstream, PowerBass, Digital Designs, Focal, or Critical Mass depending on what the set up would be for.

And the thing to remember is that its alllll personal preference witht this stuff and also what you can afford. I know that some are better quality built than others but they all sound different and they all cost different prices.. IMO RF works for me (ears and pocket).
