Will this fit??

Well, I'm thinking about putting a new head unit into my new G5 and came across this one.

1) will it fit? I think it should because there is a big opening where the stock head unit is.
2) anybody know if this is a good product??
3) anything else thats similar that could be better/more beneficial?

I don't think the Big Fat Band will fit in your car...

Ok, thanks for the responses so far. Hopefully Santa will help chip in a little bit. But one question I had, I've heard that some headunits have problems working with the steering wheel audio controls? Would I have problems with this one, or is it just normally with the lower type head units??

You will have to use an external box to interface with it. If that Alpine has a jack for a wired remote (like my alpine single din does), you'll need the SWI-ALP made by PAC (www.pac-audio.com).

Sounds good. I checked the specs, and it has a jack for a wired remote. Now I saw this head unit at BesyBuy with free install and such. Do you think they would be able to get/have this SWI-ALP for the controls, or would I be better off buying the stuff myself??

Good question. I don't think they carry it and I'm not sure if they would install something like that. If they did I'm sure it wouldn't be covered with the free install. Personally I don't let any of those guys touch my car. Some pretty dumb looking dudes work there.......

That deck will be much better for aftermarket subs then the stock one.
That is at least a 200 watt deck the stock system is just over 200 watts for everything.
So you run your interior speakers off the deck and get a nice amptio drive your subs.
