If you are wondering what wires on an aftermarket plug are the solid blue is remote turn on (for turning on an amp) and blue with white strip is power antennia (cobalts don't have)

Woowoo....got her in and she works like a charm, as does everything else on the car...il take pics when i can find my F'in camera, btw...the aftermarket radio doesnt come on until i turn the key to ignition (just before statring it), assumed that was normal, and when i turn the car off it kills the radio....again not big issues, just varying from the stock h/u....but the speakers sound soooo much better

That is normal for most radios. The sotock one had a timer built in that let it run for a set amout of time or until you open your door. You lose that (as you now know) when you put in a new deck. Do you know what the problem ended up being?

Yeah, i was given the wrong harness which had just so happened to fit the plug and looked somewhat like it would work, since i hadnt wired a cobalt before...either way it was a harness issue and everything works great now....accept when i go to put the new deck in it wont fit flush because the antenna adapter at the back sticks out against the metal plate thats there..ideas?

He said that he is having to do this more and more to the newer "all cramed together" cars.
yeah i had the same problem cept mine was plastic with a metal bar i cut the plastic out with a hot knife and the bar just unbolted it was atighe squeeze but i got a ratchet in there

NoLeafClover, connect the red wire you have running to the fuse box to the sunroof fuse (whether you have a sunroof or not there will be a sunroof fuse). That will restore original functionality of the RAP (retained accessory power) and the radio will turn on in acc and not turn off until you open a door, just like stock.

there will not always be a sunroof fuse...my car doesnt have one...i think if you dont have pw or pl then you have no sunroof fuse. i have been trying to find that wirein my car since last september. even have a friend that is a GM tech and brought home his tech 2 and said he cant find one either

Not sure what you would tap in to for an accessory lead if you have a base model without a sunroof......
