wiring a p4000

hey guys i used the search button and found some results but not too many but i just bought a pioneer p4000 and we bought the double din kit, and were about to buy the wiring kit, what else do we need and can someone tell me like a brief "how-to" on how to install this, or would it be best off to just have it done? my boyfriend is pretty good at installing things i just want a reassurance ya know??

thanks for your help!

make sure you got the corect harness and the antenna adapter too. But the 4000 isnt hard to install its almost like a normal radio. do you want it bypassed?

You have an 07 so you have a choice.
Do you want to loose your chimes (doors and turn signals) or not
If you don't mind loosing them then the cheap harness will do
Metra - 70-2202 ($15-$20)
If you want to keep the chimes then you need the expensive harness
Non- Pioneer stereo- Metra GMOS LAN 03 ($100-$150)
Pioneer Stereo, also retains Onstar- Metra GMOS LAN 04 ($100-$150+)

If you go with the cheaper harness you will have to do a fuse tap for the power wire, use the Sunroof or the windshield wipers fuse.

I think the Video bypass for the P4000 is moving the Mute wire up one spot in the harness but I can't remember for sure

Oh yeah thats right, every different model of Pioneer has a different bypass so
Thats why I'm not going Pioneer.
Had my heart set on Eclipse but they have yet to come out with a double din with USB WTF is that come on guys get in the game.
Been looking at those Kenwoods though...they look nice dont want to spend $1500 though maybe the 7120, does that one still have 3 5volt preouts and navi on it
