XM Radio on a new head unit question

Just bought the AVH-3200DVD and it said in the manual I have to buy a whole new XM Adapter for the radio, I was just wondering is this really needed? As the car already comes with XM Radio antenne

yes you need xm tuner GEX-P920XM if your HU is sat radio ready. Factory dont work with aftermarket in this case.

exactly u might be able to reuse the antenna but u need the new tuner box
