XM/Sirius???
Ok, I thought I had XM when i bought my car, get there and it doesnt. They said they told me and its probably true. So I dont want the damn satelite radio little black box anywhere on my car. Is there a way to get XM or Sirius and it would work through my regular radio, or the control in that car but hiding that ugly box in my onstar box thing? I am talking about the black box that the signal commes in from that you are supose to put on the outside of the car

That satellite receiver is line of sight (car to satellite), so if you hide it, you won't get the signal.
Tall buildings or even trees will cut the signal sometimes. Both Tim Horton's drive thru's here block the signal at the drive thru window side for example.
It's not like radio waves at all. The receiver and the satellite have to be "visible" to each other.
My SS came with built in XM so I have the factory mounted version.

I have the Sirius (Replay model) in my SS. I have the "black box" located inside the car on the rear deck lid. It has great reception. If you do go the Sirius route - I highly recommend the FM modulator Crutchfield sells. It does add about 40.00 (US dollar) for the modulator and wires.

See rear deck lid would be to bad, I mean it would be in the car so the outside of the car wouldnt look all messed uo because of it. Tinted windows will hide it real well to, but would i interfere with signals if it was int the car?

tint will not mess with it to much unles you have a lot of metal in the tint. but for best signal place it out of the car . Here are some quick facts about XM and sirus: XM will give you the best signal over Sirius because XM uses 2 satellite as sirus uses only one. Also with sirus there satellite orbite in a figure eight what this does is causes singal to be weaker at different part of the day. (more drop outs) XM will have drops also but fewer then sirius because Xm uses 2 satellites and also uses more repeaters on the ground then sirus.
PS: I have my Xm antenna on my rear deck and it works great.

Well the only place i would put the receptor would be where my onstar is, If i can pop that cap off ther might be a place to hide the receptor underneath there. And I also haerd that even if u didnt have XM, the onstar cars where XM ready.

i have my antenna tucked in on the right side of the dash with the wire hidden, i can still drive into underground parkades and it still will not cut out, if u have it inside just put it somewhere where u can get 3 bars of signal
