not sure what Emporer is talking about but...buy the deck at crutchfield.com and they give you dash kit and wire harness free. I have the 7 speaker Pioneer system, everything works perfect. You just have to make sure you connect the light blue wire to turn on the amp (it might be light blue with white stripe).
It's just like hooking up any other aftermarket deck in any other car. The only weird thing was running the power to the fuse box (which i used my sunroof fuse, so i could keep the courtesy power after the key is off).

I know I saw a dash removal DIY. So that much can be do-able. From there, do you just unbolt the radio and it pops out? How do you install the steering wheel control adaptor thingy?
Thanks alot!!!!

Well look, I already went to every shop in my area and they all said to get some adaptor that costs like 150. So if they're giving me false info, **** that. I just ask alot of questions because I've very thurough. I'm not messing around with my old car, I'm messing with my new car. So I want to make sure I'm doing everything right.

I just ordered one of the integration units, when I get it installed, I'll post back with pics of the install and everything. I sold my other MP3 player to pick up an iPod for this, so I hope it works nicely

I do not have any pics of mine. I have it behind the centre console and the ipod in the govebox. The unit itself is velcroed to the head unit. No wires showing. I will take some pics when I have time and post them later.

I'm just doing the iPod thingie. I'm planning on running the ipod cable under the steering column, and using the small flip down compartment thats on the left side of the driver seat to hold the ipod.

Well, as for me, I think I'm just gonna go ahead and do the Alpine. The prices for this past model year are dropping, thus, time to move in for the kill! Then, I'm just buying a cable to connect to the back for the unit then into the Zune, then play it that way. That's how my firends is and it works just fine in his CRX. Once I sell my PSP here soon, I might do this...
anyone know how I can color match some paint to match the SS silver on the dash?
So as a recap for actually replacing the radio, has anyone bought their radio from Crutchfield? Where they give them the stuff to install it for free. Is everything there that you need? I like how they give you instructions... But is the dash kit right and everything? Or should i just buy the kit from C-A? It seems like it's pretty split 50/50 on what people did. Please just lemme know, because I want to act quick. Prices are starting to drop on 06 radios.
BTW: I'm between these two.

I have a 30 Gig iPod and my first thought was to put ti in the drivers side compartment but found that it did not fit with the cable attached to the bottom of the iPod so that's why I chose the glove box. I chose to run my iPod from the head unit so I do not need to use the click wheel to navigate but it is a personal choice.
I am in the patch right now so I may not have pics till next week. Damb residents, always raisin a fuss when you want to drill sour.

out of those 2 i like the 9846 better and if you dont have the pod or use wma then it wouldnt matter.... the features are pretty close but remember both of those only have one set of preouts meaning if you ever wanted to amp your highs you would have to make sure your amp accepts speaker wire or "high level inputs" and some only accpet rca

I bought my radio at crutchfield and everything they gave me was perfect and a whole lot cheaper than Cobalt Addiction (free is always the best).
The only issue i have is the space behind the deck is a little snug, and i don't have the tools to cut the plastic piece that is back there. It's not a huge deal, it doesn't effect playback at all.

Also, theres a new model out for this year, it replaces the more expensive one in the links. The only difference is is that it's HD radio ready. anyone use this? Sounds neat...
And lastly, thanks for the Crutchfield reference! Did you just get the standard install kit and everything work fine? The feee one? How about the DIC? Also, did you get the steering wheel control adaptor?
Thanks!!!

i got the free stuff from crutchfield (they include everything you need, trust me). It all works fine, including the DIC. I didn't get the steering wheel control unit...thought i'd miss them, but honestly i don't. Might be a future purchase though.

Word. Sadly, the one I wanted to get from Crutchfield (the one for 150) sold out yesterday. So I guess i'll have to get the next one up. Normally 180, but now 160. They still have the cheaper one at my Best Buy, but then I'll have to buy the dash kit and stuff. Oh well. lol. I was gonna get the new year model with the HD radio, but it'd freakin' 200 bucks for the HD reciever. Eff that.
