My first new Car!!!
Damn I am excited! I have owned some 16 cars and none have been new.
Latest I had was an 88. Anyhow, my daily driver (87 Mazda 323) has been giving me problems lately.
And rather then sink money into a car that is not worth it I decided to go brand new. I'll take car payments over repair bill this time.
2006 Granite Blue Cobalt 2.4L SS 5 speed----I have the smokers package and thats it. Just the way I wanted it.
Just drove home from the dealer and I am so impressed. The shifter and clutch are great--the steering is precise and the car rides great. Soaks up bumps easily. Haven't really tried out the handling but from what little I did, I like it! Very flat and stable.
This car is solid---stiff as a...bridge.....tank.....whatever. And soooo quiet!
Gonna take very easy the first 1500kms or so before I redline it or give it full throttle. Then I'll comment on the power and accleration.
I love the colour---and no you cannot get it in the US.

Wow very nice car man, congrats on the purchase!!
You are one of the first people on here to have a 2.4 SS model, especially in Granite Blue. As for Canadia only though, they are actually selling the 2.4 SS here in the states as well. Not sure of you can get that color on the SS, but I know its available on the regular models.
Good luck with the car, let us know how you like it after its broken in!!

poolboyz02 --I do not know the top speed but am thinking its electroicaly limited. It has V rated tires......so I would think close to 130mph would be the limited top speed.
wesmanw02--what I meant was that granite blue is not a colour choice on US Cobalt SS.
Thanks for the comments guys! I'll get some more pics (including the rear) up tomorrow.
The Cobalt is really a car that could convert import owners to buy GM again, its that good!
One of GM's best efforts!

Enjoy the car and congrats on the purchase . I really like that colour on the 2.4L model of the car...it's not a colour I'd go with myself but it really stands out well on the car. I'm sure she'll keep you more than happy .

I think they dont becuase its to much of what would usally be a fleet car color... to basic looking, but that is what makes it looks great on that ncie of a car

two more. Just love driving the car. Wish the steeriung were a bit lighter though.
Still can't see the trunk release
GMs Ecotec is very impressive---smooth but has a nice growl. Can't wait to redline this puppy Then its off to the track---probably in one month.
