Dyno sheet?
I'm curious as to where in the RPM range it increased over the first dyno.

Did you dyno the 228.3 on the same day??? Or at a different time? Dyno sheets would be cool.

You said custom intake. Did you build your intake using PVC ? Well did your B/F build it using PVC ? If so what quality and what did he do about the MAF ?

Wheels or crank? That seems a bit high for just an intake. Do you have the dyno sheets?

Self. Those numbers are pretty avg of what most people are seeing with just the intake. She had a 10 hp gain. Those intakes look pretty good. I like the idea of having the stock air box there with the bottom detached. I think I may send my k and n back and get this intake and save $$$. I was about to go out today and make my own intake and then I remembered that I am lazy.

yes i gained 10 hp not 25. i posted the link to the dyno sheet.... and it was 238.3 to the wheels on the second pull.

228.3 before
238.3 after

when i spoke to some people at the meet yesterday apparently this is basically close to what they were averaging as well...like i said about underrating our cars...from talking to dealership staff they sometimes do that to keep the insurance lower....especially when u see that they are marketing to a younger....

kenny has been building his own intakes for years...he has made them for probes, scions, cavaliers and now the cobalts. the dyno sheet is about 4 posts ^^^^^

and the other link jeff (gsoccer) posted has all the info on the materials.

most people do but there is such a large variation between 202-232 stock i've seen. Not to mention that what dyno is being used and what gear the pull is done in.

Nevermind I didnt see the baseline run of 228, which is a 10hp gain from the intake. From a dyno session that expensive, I'd want big numbers as well.

But thats the point, you want realistic numbers not something unreasonably high. If you dyno at 230, but your only really in the 200 range who are you fooling?

yeah something isnt right here.....i dont think they used a SAE correction! I only dyno'd 232whp and 200wtq and that is with a K&N CAI and Magnaflow 2.5" Catback.

230 with intake and exhaust is about right...they dont offer that much in additions. The larger pipe on the magnaflow hasnt really helped u any over the 2 1/8 pipng, not till u get way up in air flow. The intake gives u 14whp at 6300 rpm, and the exhaust ud be lucky to 5% at the crank.

are you guys seriously putting 238 to the wheels with an intake? ... thats gotta be at the crank, someone confirm please? You guys are rated at 205 to the crank stock right? That would put wheel horsepower at about 185ish... sorry, im just trying to understand.

No polo, the average SS/SC dynos 205 to 215 to the wheels. The manufacturer underates them so insurance is cheaper such as the srt4. So really the cobalt has 230 to 240 crank hp.

A dyno number is just that, a number. The point was is that they gained 10whp with just a custom intake.
