they should be connected correctly. and the air filter is new but on top of the air box is a metal plate over top of the hole of the air box with very little room for air to get in could that be a problem?

Not sure, you could do the airbox mod for more airflow and sound

I'm not familiar with lsj's but what is this metal plate restricting air...Does it look like a walmart mod or OEM stock?

Sounds like your setting knock or high ait so it's pulling timing.
Your boost valve could be bad.

the metal plate was restricting the air flow and its OEM stock part it only had about an 1/8th of an inch gap for the air to get in so I took that metal plate off and it boosts 12psi now.

Sounds like something wasn't install correctly, a stock part shouldn't restrict airflow that much. Any pics of the piece and location?

no it has nothing to do with the tb it was down in the bumper where the stock air box is and on top of the oval opening a metal plate was on top of that opening and restricting flow. Name: newpics030.jpg

Sounds like some mount from a previous intake

no our intakes are hydrolock heaven, it was most likely on there to prevent water from entering the intake.

not that the stock intake has that issue though. The aftermarket intakes are more prone to sucking in some water if a hydro shield is not installed.

but glad you figured it out, now get a zzp 3 incher

I kinda figured it was aftermarket, I do know its a huge problem with the lsj's someone local to me got really really lucky when he sucked up some water in his lsj.
