Cobalts to hit showrooms this week
<img src="http://gozips.uakron.edu/~jdz1/co2.jpg" align="left" border="0" hspace="5" vspace="2">Chevrolet officials hope to start shipping Cobalts to dealers this week, a company spokeswoman said. One local dealer said he expects his first Cobalts to arrive today, while another is expecting one Saturday. Two others said they weren't sure about delivery dates but expected cars to begin arriving later this week or next week. Chevrolet itself isn't certain of the day when Cobalts would begin leaving the General Motors complex in Lordstown, said Noreen Pratscher, a Chevrolet spokeswoman. Cars are going through final checks, and the company hopes to begin shipping this week, she said.
It will take several weeks before enough cars are being produced to fill normal delivery schedules, she said.
The Lordstown plant started producing cars for sale to the public Oct. 13 and has been storing them at the plant. Production volumes started low as workers got accustomed to the new design and new equipment.
Greg Greenwood, owner of Greenwood Chevrolet in Austintown, said a truckload of eight Cobalts is supposed to arrive today at Greenwood Chevrolet in Austintown.
Eventually, the dealership will stock between 150 and 200 Cobalts.
Barry Gonis, general manager of Spitzer Auto World in North Jackson, said his records show that he is to receive a Cobalt on Saturday. He is expecting seven cars to arrive in the first month and eventually to have an inventory of about 20.
Officials at Sweeney Chevrolet in Boardman and Diane Sauer Chevrolet in Warren said they expect to be offering Cobalts either this week or next week.
Sauer said interested shoppers have been stopping in during the past week hoping to see the car.
Jeff Haag, Chevrolet marketing manager, said last month that the cars would begin arriving at dealers about Nov. 1.
Getting it right
Dealers said Monday, however, that they are pleased that GM is taking its time with the Cobalts and not rushing them from the plant.
"They want to make sure everything is in perfect condition," Gonis said.

GM hopes Cobalt will drive small car market
By JEREMY CATO

SHANNONVILLE, ONT The Chevrolet Cobalt (and its Pontiac sibling, the Pursuit) is not a down-market small car like the Cavalier, but is it good enough to challenge the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Volkswagen's Golf and Jetta, and the Mazda3?
The jury will remain out, at least until it hits showrooms in December.
The car's stiffer frame, similar to General Motors' successful new Opel Astra in Europe and shared with the Saturn Ion, delivers a smooth and responsive drive -- at least in the preproduction sedans General Motors had on hand at an annual new-model TestFest, hosted by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada. The Cobalt is very good dynamically. There's the good news for General Motors.
On the other hand, the Cobalt's vanilla exterior (and a poor paint job on my test car); an uninspired cabin design (though all the pieces fit together very well); and a buzzy ride when the car is pushed hard are worrisome. The buzzy part surprises me. So does the interior.
Yes, the chrome rings surrounding the gauges in my test car add pizzazz. The whole cabin, though, lacks the flair of the Mazda3 and the pure quiet and utter refinement of the Corolla.
Perhaps the cars hitting showrooms in December will be better. Certainly we've been told as much.
All sorts of GM officials, right up to the most senior product guy, vice-chairman Bob Lutz, have insisted the Cobalt will be a "premium" small car. Lutz himself is reported to have ordered various improvements in the Cobalt to nudge it upscale.
For instance, sound-deadening materials and vibration countermeasures were added, even though they boost weight and cost, never a good thing in the car business (cost affects profits and weight hurts fuel economy).
There is no question the Cobalt is critical to GM and its global Chevrolet brand. Replacing the dull and cheap Cavalier (and its Pontiac twin, the Sunfire) makes room down market for the Chevrolet Aveo, the budget small car from GM's Daewoo operation in Korea.

I got the red of course lol, i just had a 2004 Ford Focus SVT Bright Red but it got totalled (screwed over). Now i can't wait till my little red rocket gets here lol. I need to get some ideas of little things to make it look unique though, i asked around on other forums because there isn't gonna be any aftermarket parts out for a month or so after release so i figured i'd make it look unique with maybe a few neons inside the care or something to make it stand out in a crowd but not stick out like a soar thumb. Any ideas? All i got from the other retarded guys was "save your money for real mods", but they didn't pay attention to the "want to look unique" and the part where i said i would get all the performance parts WHEN they came out, some people are stupid, especially guys with camaros and stangs lol, half are cool though.

Hey now, I had a Camaro!
But to answer your question, the best way to make it look unique is with a new set of wheels and a nice drop. 20s fit the wheel wells of the Cobalt so nicely.
Then maybe go for one of the 2 body kits that already exist for the Cobalt. A third one will be out soon from Andys.
But in the end its all up to you. Just make it look the way you want it to look.

Sorry JonelZ! LoL, i also said half, so your on the cool half, lol. But i want to see what the stock 18's look like cause i don't really want to go bigger than 18's because of the racing factor. What are the body kits? I'd really like to see them, because if they're not too over the top then i migt think about it!! I'd really like to get the H&R coil overs but damn! $1200 is a bit much, but they'd be nice to have. Anyone know of any performance mods out for the SS yet or to be in the near future? I haven't tried to get a hold of AEM yet but i figured i'd try them first.

I popped by my local dealer this week and they finally had a Cobalt arrive. It was a sedan in Blue Granite Metallic...I was not overly impressed by the colour. The interior looks very much like a cavalier. I'll be back to see when the finally get a coupe in.

Amazing. And resurrected to bitch about the most tired issue.
If someone wants to pay me $5,000 I'll go buy and place RS logos all over my 2.4, otherwise I'm just going to go buy a bucket of SS emblems and put them on every GM car I see.
