from what I heard, what was being done was essentially a resistance check;
if the box failed the resistance check, and could not be fixed with shims, then a replacement box taken from their inventory was used.
To the best of my knowledge they are not installing the new "fixed" (aka: manufactured after January 2010) electric steering boxes.

Very interested;

I had read a vin break out list a couple days before I bought my car (about a month ago), but haven't been able to find that list since!?!?

I know the list I looked at had some but not all 2009 model year Super Sport's - and mine wasn't one of the ones suspected to have a problem - at the time, at least to me, this was another "green light" to buy the car.

If I knew, I'd tell you - I could have sworn I found it via a link on this site early last month... but the link might have changed, or pulled the vin list in leau of the official recall that happened on March 1st.

Good Post
Looks like I'll be Ok if mine has to have the motor replaced. They will not need to re-flash the comp. and mess up my custom tune.

Keep the updates comin Jn2

Don't bother going to the dealership to ask. I already did and for you and me in the Vancouver area there are no replacement motors available to fix the problem.

At least not at this moment.

I just received the letter today for my 09 SS/TC. It doesn't sound like it is worth my time.

I did more thinking and if I bring my car in for the recall, I'd like them to install the Stage kit as well. If they're going to poke around the car, might as well have them do something worthwhile.

yeah i had the same issue i think it started at around 30k so i thought it was rotors because there warped. I was driving to orlando one weekend and was tailing another guy doing like 100 all the way up there and my whole steering/electrical system went out three times in a row. You loose everything for i would say maybe no more then 3-5 seconds. But needless to say i went back to the dealership freaking out because i almost died 3 times they dont do **** just replace the batt for free. Then next couple of days i go to leave school and key gets stuck and whole car goes dead and i need a jump. Take it back to the dealer he blames it on the Python so i take it to the alarm guy he disconnects the power to it and what do you know the next day my car does the same thing twice!

I get confirmation every day that these cars electronics are horrendous.

I mean, I have a random t/c light and shifting issue that could not be diagnosed after an hour at the dealer.. That's fucked up..
