i think one of GMs and other american auto makers, is taking the same car, and rebadging it for several lines, IE: my dad was looking at a Chevy Equinox, he liked them, but the dask had wood grain, he didnt like it, so we went to saturn, looked at the vue, they were more expensive, but had a different engine, then to pontiac to look at the torrent, same thing.
Why not make just the Equinox and option the engine instead of making it another line??
you have 3 basicly identical vehicles with the same ****.

IE: Chevy Blazer. GMC Jimmy & Oldsmobile has a similar model.

American cars tend to fall apart more easily but simple maintenance and having a good relationship with your local dealer will have your car running to a half million miles. literally! all those bmw's and mercedes' are built idiot proof, but they are very tedious to work on. Need a brake job? new rotors! flush the whole system! wtf seriously that's a big dent in your wallet. subaru...on the car lathe. Very sloppy so far. I could go on and on. We use very simple techniques and our cars are built for simple service. These idiots overseas are just milking our economy and making plus sales on un necessary **** that could be avoided if the car was designed a little better. Just buy a damn american car and STIMULATE THE ECONOMY.

I have read somewhere that saturn has been up for sale but nobody is even interested in buying it.
Pontiac has always been looked at as the performance edition of GM
Buick was on the market to be closed a few years ago but Buick was there since back in the day and has a market.
I agree with making the same car for 3 or 4 brands. I can see maybe making 2 like they did with the camaro/firebid.
Can Saturn(even though I really like that saturn sky).
That needs to be the first one to go.
Not one car like the Camaro or the Volt is gonna get GM out this mess. Tired of hearing people think thats gonna solve it.
Did anyone ever think that maybe this is the Horsepower downfall like what happened after the muscle cars back in the 60's early 70's? Chevell ss and all those fast as cars went extinct and horsepower was nothing especially in the 80'2 slash early 90's. The introduction of the lt1 was when it started moving up again. Especially with GM saying they are gonna have a ton of hybrids by 20whatever. Just some thought.

Honda isn't a American company, but they offer jobs to THOUSANDS OF US. So we can not say screw it to every other company and go GM, because well we will be in the same boat AGAIN.

Right. I agree that Charger SRT-8 could probably take on a auto Camaro SS, but not a 6-spd Camaro SS esp if the driver can drive. I'm not saying Chargers aren't fast, because anything that can do 60 under 5 seconds stock and does the quarter in low 13's is fast by my books, but I was with my buddy in his 05 bone stock manual GTO and he raced a Charger SRT-8 and the Goat definitely has an edge.
It will be interesting though to see see the Chally SRT-8 vs the Camaro SS, that's for sure. The new Mustang GT500 though will be the king of those three. But with the performance offering through GM direct that will be offered with the Camaro that gap will be closed...

I agree its sucks to not have a manaul transmission on the charger srt8 and i agree the manual SS will be able to smoke me but the auto that is questionable and keep in mind my car weighs alot more than the SS

My opinion is that GM should just give back the other car makers to there original owners, it wouldn't be the first time an american company has done that!
Now that i love lol but with my 6.1 as it is, there is just massive torque from that hemi, except i have cracked the tranny once already so be looking for that small defect lol

From having the charger SRT-8 i love it so far, i love my interior too. And also when i hit 165 it seemed like it had more potential to go even faster, it didnt take that long to reach 165 either, btw has anyone gone against a caliber srt4 yet i would like to know the results

I think we are just having another fart like we had in the 70's and 80's where the cars turned into **** for awhile. But then everything will just come back better than before.
Well.. That, or we will all be driving Toyotas.

As for the GT500 comment, remember that thats the third tier Mustang. Camaro's third tier would have been the Z28. Only thing in that market for GM now is the Corvette...which doesn't directly compete with it.

That's a Nissan. Now you're cheating. lol.
Honestly, I'd love to get an R32 Skyline. If I ever got one, I'd drive it everyday and probably keep it until I died. Probably use it as my casket when I died too. lol. I ******* love those. Nismo, Mines, Blitz.. My lord.

Son of a f*cking bitch. Don't know how I missed this thread but that really blows. Honestly though, it does make sense for GM considering their position right now. I don't think it'll lead to a "blanding" of GM cars as long as they keep going with the really good looking models they're coming out with. Just sucks that performance will have to be on hold for a while.

Who wants to go in with me and get a ZR1? We'll put it up on blocks, and at the 2050 Barrett-Jackson auto auction we'll bank.
I can contribute $7.63, possibly more after I check under the couch.

BTW GM cars STILL have soul, even the mainstream models.
The Malibu, CTS, Lambda's and others have all been praised for great quality and driving dynamics. GM is NOT going the route of Toyota.
