165km too much for 06 Cobalt SS 2.4l n/a?
Hi guys new to the cobalt forums, looking for some advice on purchasing a used 4 door SS. I am interested in a 06 2.4' n/a and a dealer in my area has one going for about $4700 but it has 165,000km on it, thats about 102,000 miles give or take. Just wondering if its a good deal and or how long do these models usually last with the right maintenance etc. Thanks in advance!

Properly maintained, that motor will outlast the car lol. My brother has an 05 Grand Am 2.2 ecotec with 320,000km on it. Doesn't burn a drop of oil and runs like a champ.
Talking Canadian, not American prices and worth. If it's in good shape I'd say it's worth about 4K.

For $4700? I'd offer less, especially for an 06, even the SC coupes here are around that price. It really depends on how the previous owner took care of it, which is really hard to find out. That's just me though.

Canada and America are two different ball games. Balts are worth more up here. My car was almost written off and first throw out offer on my 06 SS/SC was $7200 without even trying.

Well yeah in the U.S. prices are different, $4700 is about $6200 Canadian so..

Ya to buy a car up here will always be more expensive than buying a car down there no matter what the dollar is sitting at between Canada and the US. Good and bad, depending how you look at it lol.
The way your dollar sits rights now you're laughing buying stuff up here. Lots of US car dealers are doing it. Just like only a few years ago we were buying stuff non stop in the states cause our dollar was on par with yours and everything is cheaper in America.

Like stated before that is way to much for a 2.4 nvm the ss badge lol VVHopefully what I wrote below helps you get a better idea on pricingVV
I bought my 08 tc last year for $6900 cash from a dealship who wanted 10 500 for it lol I went in one day said I will give you $6500 for that car and pointed,They said no way, I said here take my number and give me a call lol guess who called about a month later lol I ended up getting it on the road for $6900 with 120,000km
I bought my 09 parts car for $625 cash, It is an 09 ss/tc, It is missing/damaged front bumper, hood and left fender also needs a new tie rod and rim is dented. The motor and trans has just under 119,000. Also has some aftermarket parts I can sell as well.
I am looking at picking up a ss/sc for $1500 cash with 190,000 on it. Prog going to offer 1200 and go from there.
Also dealership and insurance pricing is way over rated and/or out to lunch lol I bought my supercharged cobalt for $5000 and drove it for almost a year prob like 10 months, Someone ran a red a t-boned me, The only aftermarket part I got to install was 5mm wheel spacers and everything else that was on the car was done by the previous owner. They wrote my car off and gave me a cheque for $8700 and was able to removed some of the aftermarket parts so I just took the money and ran.
I think somethings are cheaper in Windsor because you are so close to the border, Lastly if you aren't in a rush and have time to decide then I would wait and browse for a good deal they do come ever so often esp if you don't need to rush, Always remember that is there asking price and doesn't mean they are going to get it.
I did a quick search and found an ss/sc in your area for a decent price and around the same kms your looking at http://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/w...ationFlag=true
Another tip if you are young call around for insurance first, I found some places like belair don't have different pricing from the supercharged ss to the 2.4 ss, Reason being the way they look at is it's an ss plain and simple.
But places like TD will have different prices and even ask if its the supercharged model or not. Ask me how I know this lol
Hope this helps, Keep us posted

also the canadian price inflation is definitely not true country wide. Maybe out west where you live blue, but here in NS people literally can't sell cobalts. My buddy sold his full bolt on lnf with 92xxxkm on it perfect shape for $8200, after it was listed @ 9 for almost 2 months.

Lol ya there's a few on infraredlines you tube page with my car involved. The one you saw was probably when he came up to Canada for the weekend with 20 gallons of E85 and we put my car on E47 for fun that weekend haha. Then I was hooked and run E47 all the time now lol.
